Need help! old stereo receiver/CD as HTPC

    Hi all,

I want to build an HTPC out of an old CD receiver, similar to the mod "Zed's DVD Player Case Mod DVR" (just Google it up)

I have access to several old receivers in a used-parts shop, but I don't really know where to start:
    - are all receivers generally the same size?
    - How do I choose the best receiver (in terms of dimensions, location of CD tray etc.)?
    - Can I fit a mini ATX board inside?
    - how about the PSU? will it fit?

Will appreciate any help or reference.

    thanks!

best bet will be to go with a mini itx atom or nano board (ie the new zotac nvidia ion one). you can then also use an external laptop type psu.
as for the cd tray, probably better with a unit that has it to one side rather than centre for clearance issues.
not all recievers are the same size, for your uses the bigger the better.
i bet there's a video on youtube on how to do it (i've seen them for car pcs)
    MediaPC - ASRock H61M-DGS - 8gb ddr3 - i3 2120 - R9 270 - antec fusion black - lg ggc-h20l - windows 10 - denon avr-1911 - JVC 58" 1080p RPTV
