AM3 coolers - does a AM2+ Cooler work

I am building a new AM3 rig and want a better cooler, Will a AM2 cooler work on a AM3 motherboard?

I thought the AM3 and AM2+ sockets were the same.

Socket and cooler mounting are identical, the only difference is electrical/signaling.

But I can use any cooler designed for AM2 for a AM3 socket.. Good stuff

Being really nit-picky, AM3 sockets must have 2 less holes then AM2, surely
