Pebble dashed silent PC
Am I right in thinking high frequency noise is blocked by high density material and not the low density foam type stuff. My friend was a sales rep for an sound attenuation company and I mentioned sound proofing he pulled out a sample of material about 10mm thick made out of bonded granite chips. It Was like a thick heavy tile that had a similar porous surface to a breeze block. So how crazy would it be to pebble dash the inside of a PC case. If I paint glue and sprinkle grit until 10mm acoustic treatment is acheived it would be a similar to the tile. These tiles cost like £50 per sq metre and I am sure I can buy granite chips from a pet shop like what you see in fish tanks.
I think this fits under the catagory of case modding.

Would be interesting to see what its like although you need to make sure you know exacly how those proper tiles are made as there could be some sort of process that helps them to be sound proofed ;)
Also make sure the pebbles dont come off and get into fans etc.

these granite blocks will be pressure bonded under a huge amount of heat i'd imagine, so glueing gravel together probably won't have the same effect, would be interesting tho

I don't know for sure, but i EXPECT the low density foam stuff works by stopping th air vibrating by locking it in pockets so the sound cant propagate.
The high density stuff is the opposite in that it's so dense that there's so many molecules that when sound travells like a domino effect, more molecules have to be vibrated in the chain for the sound to propagate, and so more energy is lost due to more collisions, so it's not so much it prevents transmission, but the opposite happens, it promotes it internally, so it dies quicker.
This is just a guess, so it's probably wrong.
