    Cube Cases

    Hi

I'm on the lookout for a cube cases that will fit a ATX MB and over 12 hard drives

I'd set my sites on a Mountain mods UFO but am now concerned about their quality control and customer services
The only other case I'm aware of is the Lian Li PC343B - But to be honest I don't like the look of it

Are there any other cube cases out there that fit the bill (that don't look like big ugly server boxes)

    Many thanks

    Re: Cube Cases

    That's a lot for a cube case.

Most cube cases tend to be small not big.
The only large one's I can think off are the UFO and PC343B but I think you might struggle to get 12 Hdd's in ether of them

From what I've heard mountain mods can be a bit dodgy on quality but also very helpful on replacing bad parts.
The big issue there is they are in the US, so things have to be shipped back and forth, which can lead to some very long delays.
And every package could also get held up by customs which would make things worse.

But all told, build it your self or get someone to custom build it for you.

    Hi

In theory you can get 18 drives in a UFO and 16 (ish) in a PC343B
The quality issue with MM is a bit of a worry - if you look at my wanted thread you will also see that clunk had trouble with them replacing bad parts
    http://forums.hexus.net/wanted/17304...ml#post1794876

The cost to import from the states will be too much - $100 shipping alone

The trouble is that the Lian Li version is pretty ugly - I'm not sure what I'm going to do now (maybe the build my own is the only real option)

    Many thanks

    Hi

Thanks for that - another case of poor quality control and poor customer service

The trouble is if you want an off the shelf attractive large cube case that holds tons of hard drives then Mountain Mods are the only guys (that I'm aware off) to talk to.
Danger Den do a large double sized tower case, but it doesn't hold that much in the way of hard drives - and I'm not sure about the all perspex look

It's almost like the Dinovo Mini - Basically unreliable (mine needs to be reset up to half a dozen times a night). But if you want a hand held keyboard/mouse combo that's it

As Pob255 said I might have to build one myself (not that I remotley qualified to tackle some like that)

    Re: Cube Cases

To make a case is not that hard, it requires time and planning.
To make a case to a high quality is more complex and in all honesty requires tools and workspace as well as time & planning.

It may well be worth seeing if you can find some form of local small scale metal fabricators, just to find out what the costs might be to have them make you a case. (something like a pre bought motherboard tray would be good)
When you think about it a pc case is basically a metal box with ventelation holes cut in it.

    Hi

The metal shop is a good idea
I'll find out if there is someone local that might be able to tackle it

    Many thanks

    Re: Cube Cases

I still have the set of new, replacement mountain mods panels, they've been in the shed since they arrived, there's 2x full windowed side panels, the half window/dual fan hole top panel (original top), 5.25" bay and motherboard tray - everything except the chassis itself, all in the shiny, orange peel black.

If you make your own cube out of wood or whatever, you could use all these parts to make up your own cube. Could be interesting.

    Hi

    That sounds very interesting

Maybe something that I'd be able to do myself

    I'll drop you a PM
