Not so much of a project. More of a convenience.
Well.
It was 11:00 and I had nothing to do. Looked around my room for a while then for some odd reason looked at a spare computer I had and my TV cabinet. I think you can guess where this is going..:)

So I had a think about it for 10 minutes (Yeah thats right, 10 minutes planning time) and dove straight into this 'project'.

So I had to fit all of the innards of a computer onto one of these wooden slabs that form the shelves in the cabinet

I had a look at a spare case I had lying around (This is a case that must be over 10 years old.) and to my surprise the motherboard tray was held in with screws. I unscrewed it and I was amazed. I had the start of my project going smoothly!

NOTE : This whole project from the idea had no planning at all. I just went with the flow.
So I screwed the motherboard plate onto the shelf which gave me a basic idea of how much space I had to work with. When it went on it really hit me that I didnt have that much space so it was bound to be a tight fit!

Now by this point I was worrying where to put the PSU. I had tried everywhere on the board mounting it the way you would normally mount it in a case, i then thought to myself... "Im not using a case anymore :|"

Now. Orginally the plan was for this to be a media server. Becuase my TV is an old one and does not support VGA I assumed I couldnt make it a HTPC.. Oh how I was wrong.

Re: Not so much of a project. More of a convenience.

Looks good. Good to see old bits that might of been binned finding a use :)
Re: Not so much of a project. More of a convenience.
How about putting a plexi glass (with drill holes) screen in front/back of the draw with fans in it this would help keep dust out. Also you could mount switches io on the front then. Could we have an "action" picture of it all mounted. Also did you find out what you wii was trying to tell you!
Re: Not so much of a project. More of a convenience.
Yeah I was thinking something along those lines (Ofcourse with it being 12:00 at night I couldnt really source things like that.)
And I had it running on my TV last night! but ofcourse with it being S-Video the signal quality wasnt great and it was a bit jumpy and unclear on the desktop, but when you put a movie full screen it sorts itself out
And Ill get that action shot asap ;)

If you don't already have a remote you could get the Cyberlink one from ebuyer for about £5 as it works with Windows Media Centre.

Nice one, Cheers mate.
I was also looking at going for a Keyboard / Touchpad combo so I can use it in bed ^_^
Re: Not so much of a project. More of a convenience.
You can get a bluetooth logitech Keyboard / Touchpad combo for the PS3 but it will also work with a PC for £25 on ebay, you just need a USB bluetooth adaptor for a few £s.
