    Which Case to buy?

I am looking to get a case for a new build and have narrowed my search down to 3 cases below. I am now stuck for choice, please help.

    1) Lian Li PC-7FNB
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Lian-...SU-New-Version

    2) Lian Li PC-25FB
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Lian-...m-Case-w-o-PSU

    3) Lancool K62
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Lanco...97-Audio-ports

Cooling, noise insulation and space are all of importance to moi.

I have listed them in order of preference, but no 2 is very tempting except for the plastic hood on top. I am not sure how durable it will be in use.

All comments appreciated, and thanks for looking.

    Re: Which Case to buy?

Well the pc-7 is the smallest
the pc-25 and k62 are basically the same case. (the lancool is cheaper because it's steel construction rather than alumimium)
I'd also look at the k58 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Lanco...97-Audio-ports which is the basic model without the led fans and side window. It lacks top fan but you can buy a couple of 140mm fans and lian-li OF-01 grommited fan screws for it http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2424.html
If you want something more funky looking there's the lancool k62r1 special edition http://www.lancoolpc.com/en/product/...25&ss_index=62 however I'm guessing that's not to your taste.

Also have you considered the silverstone Fortress mark one http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Silve...-PSU-or-Window or mark two http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Silve...m-Case-w-o-PSU ??

I got a Antec P183 after it was recommended by Pob255, it proved to be a great choice, It has sound deadening material in the sides, the fans keep my Xeon cool enough, without being loud. I was not sure about the front originally however the way it folds 270 Degrees makes it very nice also that front adds to the sound proofing. Bay covers add ventilation and have filters.

Oops sorry my bad, by the looks of the thread it was StaffsMike, you did indeed suggest the p182 Pob255, though I think they are pretty much the same thing the P182 and P183.

    Re: Which Case to buy?

Thanks for all your advise, i have been looking at silverstone Fortress mark 2, as per Pob255 suggestion, it looks good but way above my budget, Just realised the Lancool has side panels, not too hot on them.

I think i will have to stick to the Lian li PC 7, unless i find something else.

Umm I hate to be the barer of bad news, but almost all cases have side panels.

If you meant window side panels, only the k62 does, both the k58 and k60 (k60 not available in the UK&EU ) have solid plane side panels like other lian-li cases.
To turn the k58 into a k60 you just need to buy 2 additional 140mm fans and that set of grommited fan screws I linked too.

Personally speaking, if I was in the market for a new case and had the £75 I would get the k58 and extra fans.

EDIT: Oh and it might be worth holding off, I know WiNDy are planning to start selling cases world wide at the end of march.
    http://www-online.jp/
I don't know which models are going to be sold or for how much though
If you've not encountered WiNDy before they are a Japanese High quality case manufacture (and the first company to make all aluminium cases AFAIK) they are not that well know because up untill now they have only sold there cases within Japan, so the only way to get one was to know someone who lives in Japan to buy one for you and then ship it.

    Re: Which Case to buy?

I recommend going for the Armoursuit P50 if your going to be spending circa £130 - absolutely fantastic case and hoping to be getting one myself soon.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Which Case to buy?

Thanks Pob 255 i meant window side panels, i believe windy will start shipping to the UK in March, i will have to check out the cost of panel and postage to see if its worth it.

Trebinator, i sort of like the look of the 25fb compared to the P50.

So many choices and back to the drawing board. I have always used alu cases, which sort of narrows the choice.

Thanks for all your help guys.

    Re: Which Case to buy?

If you're not going to budge from alumimium then you can Rule out the Lancool, they are basically Lian-li cases made from steel to lower the cost.

Onther options . . . the Zalman GS1000, steel inside, aluminium sidepanels, shiney plastic trim.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-025-ZA ooo that made me feel dirty, but it's only one I could find with a quick search, who I recognise.
Eclipse has the SpecialEdition version http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...GS1000SE&af=50 (never sure about eclipse, they don't have a great standing on froogle)
Quietpc have the plus version in stock http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/pro...es/gs1000-plus however the cost really jumps up there.

I was just looking over some of the older Silverstone cases (pritty much your only other choise for full alu) when I spotted Scan still have a Hiper Anubis, http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Hiper...-%28w-o-PSU%29
Not quite as good as the later Osiris, if you don't mind 2nd hand there's an Osiris on fleabay atm
