Project P4 Storm pc case Mod

let me start by just saying....this is a real old project, i started it in 2008 so nearly 3 years old in fact! but seems as ive finaly started back on it i thought i would post it here...im going to give a few "progress pictures of how it started and such, but to give a basic idea, this thing is based around a 8800gt card i had, it will soon become clear why

    so, the case..

so started the "bondo + fibreglass" work on this baby!

    oh yes...

ive used a household piece of "rubbish" so to speak lol, heres why...

button and hdd LED!! a full shot of course!

so a few other parts being modded aswell,

remember i said about the 8800gt?? those things got pretty hot huh??,

a great spot for nice cold air to be sucked in, not needed now but it will come in handy!

    anyhow....

and now look at the inside

    to this...

oh and somthing else i did recently (like this week)

    and finaly.....

wow long post so exspect some updates on this baby im hoping to get it finshed in the next 2 months thanks for looking

Ahh going for the old Turbine mod I see.

Really nice to see a silver/grey case as apposed to the BLACK! that every pc seems to be now

    Nice bondo work there.

    Although I must ask

    What the Heck is that?

Umm I ment what bit is it?

it looks a bit like a scoop you get in a car bonet for a supercharger. . .

I just cannot see where that goes on the case . . .

PS I really like the vented&window side panel.

i decided to put it together...well with the parts that are finshed that is!

The back plate has changed from the flush aluminum finsh to the silver, it was a last minute thing but i think it looks sweet thoughts?

The big red "what does this button do" button (?) is epic!

odd that you say that, thats one of the main reasons i chose it, alot of people suggested these fancy light up buttons and such but i liked this one

Re: P4 Storm Mod 2 years old and still on it!

Finaly i get an update! i've officaly got my shed back so now have somewhere to spray and what a difference it makes to have a spraying booth! I also decided to change the cans of spray as i was having hell with the halfords paints, not sure why but i seemed to have a failed paint job every time, so a new can and brand was chosen...and the results

Wow what a difference! gun metal grey is such a nicer colour....i didnt have any issues when spraying this case this time round either, a real nice and easy uniform coat of primer aswell as the colour coat went on. This is just a massive plus! So even more pictures

Anouther shot of that front - I'm so impressed with it

Onto the side, this one has been a pain from day one...but this time,

Easy work! this brand of paint seems to do the job well! lets take a look at both of these panels!

Looks pretty good right? Well this is not the finished product I've got to buff it friday, really looking forward to it! cannot wait to see how it reacts.... but for now onto the other panel, further back into the thread you will know that i had alot of "pin hole" issues with it.....well i still do have that same damn pin hole issue!

But saying that it still looks alot smoother than before,

So thats all for this update, I'm working on this final panel to try get it done asap, a new mod lingers so this must get finished (even if it is 3 years old XD) the girlfriend needs a case right?

Saying that has anyone got any tips on pin holes? i use a product which does the job alright.....well it did untill it dried up So i've now got to get anouther product as this was imported and i cannot find it anywhere!

Thanks for reading Hope you enjoy this come to an end as much as i do! exspect an update on friday when i buff this bitch shiny

Re: P4 Storm Mod 2 years old and still on it!

    It's back!!!!

    Looks great

couple of questions, if you're not using the halfords stuff what are you using?

No help on the pinhole issue, I've never had pinhole problems only splatter issue I've had was from a dodgy can (something with the valve I think)

Hope your not pointing the can down at objects being painted which are laying flat on the ground/work surface, if so then that your probable cause right there.
Spray cans are designed on only really work correctly when held upright.

PS razer are you on the mod brothers?)

Re: P4 Storm Mod 2 years old and still on it!

Thanks, it has been a while since i've got any work done on this, real life took over abit and someone moved in hench me loosing the shed but now they have left im back in bis

I'm now using plasti-kote - seems to work so much better,

The panels are sprayed hanging from the top of my shed (there is a solid beam i hook them off) so pretty sorted there! I believe the pin holes may go away if i had a filler primer but i cannot find the one i orginally used anywhere, real problem that is!

One good thing mind is that i do have very good tips i use on the cans instead of the ones you get with them, i like using my own tips as it helps with the flow of paint...ALOT.

P.S yes i am on the mod brothers

Thanks for your comments Dude much appreciated!
