    Cases case cases

Right I have a build on order but sadly the Corsair 600t keeps being pushed back, I have to be at uni in a few weeks so I may have to scrap that off my order and go for a different case. I plan to air cool the case with a Titan Fenrir. I would like the case to be as futer-proof as possible, I don't use many HDDs and Optical drives. I can't see a chance of water cooling in my future, to expensive. The fact that I'm taking it to Uni makes weight and easy of transport (the 600t has handles) a factor in my choice as the case will come home with me for Christmas, Easter and Summer.

    So far I've narrowed it down too;

    Lian Li's B25fb
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/Lian-...m-Case-w-o-PSU

    Silverstone's FT01
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Silve...Window-w-o-PSU I may go windowless here.

    Corsair 700D
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Corsa...m-fans-w-o-PSU

    Now here is how I'm seeing it;
    700D
    Fantastic cable routing and quality.
The isolation of some components is also nice and appealing.
The downsides are it is partly steel.
I'm not sure on the air cooling abilities.
The cost is a downside though but doesn't bother me hugely.
Not bad looking but not great.
A bit too big but workable.

    FT01
Let down on cable routing and the top fan cover is a pain.
It is a bit smaller which makes it a tad cramped but easier to transport.
It has full aluminium construction and I love the removable HDD tray which exists in this and 600t.
In the future I would be tempted to change the front fan for an "Air penetrator" fan.
I love the idea of positive pressure.
It lacks a Mobo cut out.

    B25fb
Not as good looking as the FT01 but still better than the 700D.
Now my main qualms with this case are the maximum length 290mm graphics cards which could reduce the life expectancy. I could mod this taking a saw to the HDD cage and making a cut out though to accept a long card.
    It has full Ally construction.
I don't think the front fans are filtered which is a big let down.
Cable routing is good though which is a nice bonus.
I'm worried about removing the front bezel by accident when transporting.

As you can see none are perfect in my eyes but a compromise might have to be made. They are very close though and I'm getting headaches thinking it over.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Cases case cases

I'd go for an NZXT Phantom if it's out in time. No qualms about what fits in, but still not quite as big outer-dimensions as the 700D. Failing that, the FT01.

I think the Phantom is hideous just my opinion though. I am leaning towards the FT01 for it's air cooling and ability to eat large GFX cards. I think I would have to stick an Air Penetrator on the front though.

If the HDD cages are of the same construction as in my B25B:

    http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product...38&ss_index=96

Then you can remove the upper HDD cage and leave the lower one in place... Though obviously that depends on the number of HDD bays you need.

Sadly not, the cage in the B25FB seems to be a monolith.

I'd just like to point out that the corsair 700D is not "The downsides are it is partly steel." it's mostly steel

The only part of the construction that is not steel is the front bezel and that's actually plastic with an anodised aluminium sheet glued to the front to give it that nice anodised aluminium look.

both front fans on the Pc-b25fb are filtered.

Oh that sucks, pretty much put off the 700D completely now, leaning towards the FT01 though and will change to it within the next week if there is no news on the 600t/.

It's a good choice, but the windowless version is much nicer. I wouldn't mind a window, but the standard one is far too big.

Well I plan to get a windowed version and then buy a solid side panel, so I have both the painted inside, window and sound insulation.

    Thanks for the input though

Good idea. I'd forgotten that the insides weren't painted nicely on the windowless version.

i've just bought the FT02 its a really good for air cooling, I seen a temp difference of about 10-15c
just wish it had just a little more space around the back for cable management.

    Re: Cases case cases

I went for it and got on FT01, I am very impressed to be honest, not much room round back but after some wiggling and tape it all went together. I never realised there were little grommets for Sata cables between the HDD cages and the mobo tray.

Also my biggest worry was the top fan filter which is accessible through the side like the front one and not into the 5.25" drives.

All in all it's sturdy, nice, quite compact and I think I prefer it to the 600t, but they may just be because it's here now and the 600t wouldn't have been.

I've got the ft01's bigger brother - damn good cases. The best built case i've ever had.

Rather like the FT01 as well - if I was going for it, perhaps would have gone for the red version - but either are quite stylish.

Still like my own customised case I've had for some time
