    GallaUK's PowerBrick

    Saturday 03/07/2010
I thought I'd start a project log now that parts have started arriving. This is what I have so far. The computer has been up and running 7 months now and I'm just adding the water cooling now.

    System hardware
    Intel Core i7 920
    Asus Rampage II GENE
    6GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz
    XFX GTX 260
    Corsair X32 SSD
    1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1
    250GB Western Digital Caviar

    Water cooling hardware
    Black Ice GT Stealth 240

As you can see I'm still missing most of the water cooling side but I think getting the radiator should keep me entertained for a while while I decide on a pump.

    The PC at the moment.

The new radiator and fans stood in front to show size.

Had a delivery from Specialtech this morning A nice bracket.

Yea it doesn't fit. But I'll just have to make it.

Braiding for the second time ever

Got a delivery coming tomorrow hopefully.

    It came!

Well I chopped out the existing fan holder and bolted in that bracket with the radiator and fans bolted on. As you may be able to see in the last image the graphics card is touching the radiator.

Well this arrived from SpecialTech. Just waiting for a replacement fitting and a thread extension.

Progress is being made behind the scenes. Still buying parts though.

First I dismantled everything and got rid of the heatsinks that were going to be replaced with waterblocks.

I needed to cut a hole for the backplate and one where the pump would sit so I used my rotary tool and the cutting wheels that come with it.

Once the cutting was done I assembled the system on the motherboard.

Time to fill the loop and get all the air out.

After a few hours running it's time to put the rest of the PC in there!

Since the power supply in this machine died it was time for an upgrade! In quality rather than power output though.
