    Re: case mesh

Woven mesh is cheap but has the down side that it can come apart, as long as you bond the edges in some way it's fine, small areas or intricate shapes are hard to do.
Welded woven mesh doesn't fray but normally doesn't come in very small sizes.

Diamond mesh, is also cheap, personally I don't like the look so much, it's made by cutting slots in a flat metal sheet then stretching it out to open the holes, it can have very sharp edges all over the whole mesh.

Punched mesh is the most expensive, a sheet of metal with lots of holes punched in it.

Speaker Mesh is often easy and cheap and is a fine punched mesh, down side it you cannot normally buy it in sheets but pre-shaped for a speaker.

He's an idea for you http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...oducts_id=1530 that's a 140mm fine woven wire filter but you can also get them in 120mm size.
I used one on the front and top of one of my builds

B&Q do a wide range of metal sheet in various styles, including meshes. Might be worth having a look in your local branch...?

Doesn't look like they have anything much in the way of fine mesh.

Although this looks like a good candidate for cannibalisation http://www.diy.com/nav/rooms/fires-s...-Black-9233520

As is something like this http://www.play.com/Office/Office/4-...-/Product.html (not sure of the mesh quality, size or if it's flat)

    Re: case mesh

yeah mesh has to be 2mm thick as this will make a new front panel for the case ..problem being size ..needs to be 56.5cm tall and 25.5cm wide looks like it may cost £20-50 ..lol

If you just stick in a search for sheet metal you get a whole range of grades and sizes, including steel expanded mesh (yes,I know, not ideal) at three differetn thicknesses, which looks to be quite fine. The advantage with B&Q is that you could go to your local store and lay your hands on the stuff, which would give a much better idea of whether it's what you want or not...

I've been meaning to get down to one of mine for ages to look for materials to use in Project Cunning Plan (which is still on hiatus I'm afraid)...

    Re: case mesh

Ahh yes, I just did a search for mesh

And yes good point about being able to go and see it in person.

@flearider, 2mm thickness is going to be a major problem but at the same time making the entire front out of mesh may not be exactly practical, does depend on what it is you're planning to do.

If you're looking at cutting the front out of the bezel and putting in a sheet of mesh
to make it look like one of these

Then how about making a frame wrap the mesh around it then fit it into the front, that would give you the thickness.

    Re: case mesh

Quick Note, it's not actual carbon fibre, just ABP plastic made to look like carbon fibre.

To get a large sheet of mesh fold the edges over, doesn't need to be 2mm thick, you could double fold the two edges for extra thickness.

Or just cut out a large square hole in the middle and put in a sheet of mesh behind it.

the mian issue you'll have is finding a fine mesh that's 2mm thick.
