    Behemoth's mATX Build - Build Pics - 56K Go away !

Now that I've got a bit of spare time to do this before hitting the sack I thought I'd post up some pics to show how it all went.

    My weapons of choice

Hmmm it's small in there !

For an mATX board it does pack a lot of features !

Board mounted in the case, CPU in place

Hmmm could be a problem with the RAM later

I was right, a VERY tight fit !

Perhaps I should have bought 2 x 4 Gig modules, but nevermind got them all in

GTX 460 in, Soundcard in too, thinking at this point modular PSU should have been ordered

Thinking I might be alright for coolong in this little case

    It lives

I know you've all seen it, but the finished article

Phenom 2 X2 Unlocked all 4 cores, standard clocks, 8 gig DDR3 Corsair RAM, Gigabyte GTX460 OC2, 2 TB HDD - very cool, very quiet, very stable.

Ideally before I move I want to crack it open and tidy the cables, but very happy with the build none the less.

i'm thinking of going uATX around IVB time.

What sort of temps are you getting with the case fans on their lowest settings but the CPU and GPU at full tilt?

Also, how many HDD's can you fit in there?

    Re: Behemoth's mATX Build - Build Pics - 56K Go away !

What the heck? ummm, you seem to have got the layout wrong.

The PSU should be fan facing upwards, the filtered vent on the top is for the psu, in at the top out at the back, cutting it off from the rest of the system.
That's why the psu is offset and not in the middle to provide a space beside it to hide the cables.

You then run the cables back behind the motherboard tray, excess cables & cable length can be bundled up beside the psu.

    eg
    and

The cpu cooler would probably work better pointing toward the back

PS you do realise the motherboard tray is removable? Makes it a lot easier to mount the motherboard and the cooler.

Still thanks for sharing, tis a lovely case.
I think the only real thing I can mark it down for is not having a flip down dvd cover like the Lian li's do

It's the new TJ08 http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=303 steel body, aluminium bezel and a very nice case and one of the best mATX cases on the market, I'd rate it along side the fractal design mini ARC and fortress 03 (and the even newer Precision PS07 but that basically the same case)
    It's not cheap at around £70 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silve...usb-30-w-o-psu

A cheaper option is the Precision PS07 http://www.silverstonetek.com/produc...id=314&area=en
It's very new, basically the same case except for a plastic bezel, with door and 2 normal 120mm fans in the front instead of the 180mm Air Penetrator fan.
However it is a bit cheaper http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silve...icro-atx-black

The layout is is bit odd, but it makes a lot of sense when you start looking at it.

Whats the noise of the front fan like? I've heard people complain that it should be a lot quieter than it actually is.

On full tilt it's pretty loud but to be honest on the low setting it's alright, really loud fans just don't bother me. I used to cool my Socket A rigs back in the day with Delta screamers

    Re: Behemoth's mATX Build - Build Pics - 56K Go away !

Never really been into modding in all fairness. I buy a nice lookimg case to begin with, in my mind some of the mods I've seen are akin to buying a nice understated looking car and then lowering it, adding god awful neon lights, a huge pointless spoiler and fitting a loud noisey exhaust on the back.

Then to top it all off some god awful stickers from Halfords.

Some mods on PC cases do look good, just something that doesn't appeal to me.

Seems my H50 will fit in this as well.

This is becoming ever so likely to be the case for my uATX move in a few weeks.

    Re: Behemoth's mATX Build - Build Pics - 56K Go away !

This and the fractal design Arc Mini are probably the two best mATX cases on the market atm.
(Also the silverstone precision 07 http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/chassi...n-series-ps07/ but it's the same internals, just a different bezel and normal 120mm fans not the 180mm)

EDIT: good example of non-modular psu cable management in the hexus review for this case.
