I haven't modded anything in a while so here's a quick one.
One thing I didn't know about this cheap UPS until I bought it; it's impossible to switch off the audible alarm when it's running on battery power. The UPS has twice woken me up at four in the morning when the electricity people decide to do a spot of maintenance.
To get a good mornings sleep, rather than throw away a perfectly good UPS or rip out the buzzer, I retrofitted a toggle switch to turn the buzzer on or off. Because the buzzer was mounted on the main board I had to de-solder it and mount it somewhere else in order to install a switch.

The offending buzzer, note the disconnected battery – I didn't fancy an electric shock!

Buzzer re-soldered with toggle switch in series… Then hot glued in to place.

Just on a side note, this UPS is used solely to power my modem which sits next to the main telephone socket, it's some ways away from the bulk of my network gear and main UPS. I don't know how long the modem runs on UPS battery power though, but it was ok through the last 45min power cut.
