    Hey,

Good value can mean a lot of things, you could get a case like the one below which would do the job and looks okish but too much hardware crammed inside it and it might get a bit too warm.
    xcase.co.uk/X-Case-S007B-Black-Slim-Micro-HTPC-ATX-Tower-with-p/casecit-s700b.htm
    or you could get this:
    scan.co.uk/products/silverstone-sst-gd01b-r-grandia-desktop-chassis-in-black-rohs
which has a nice finish and better cooling but is bigger and has a bigger price tag.

are you using a separate graphics card or integrated, in which case you could get a slimmer case?

And do you want a case that comes with a remote?

    narrowing the requirements helps

    Thanks for the reply!

The Xcase you suggested looks like a good recommendation but never heard of thie brand before.. can it be positioned horizontally so the lcd display can still be read?

I was looking at the coolermaster 360 or the newer 361 or even maybe the Fractal Define R3, what do you think?

..Yes I will probably be using a discrete graphics card as I would want to play some BF3 as well

As to a remote, I have a MCE remote and reciever already

Re: Best Value ATX HTPC case

    I have this case http://www.silverstonetek.com/produc...pid=82&area=en

Also connected to my 50" plasma . It was my first HTPC build and is only about a month old, its a great case. It is pretty quiet as well, the mobo fan is what is letting my HTPC build down though.

The only issue i have with this case at the moment is i have an 8800 GTX in there which means i cant fit both the HDD trays ( i could probably move it to a different slot though) and the motherboard power cable is stopping my from fitting the DVD tray but that is not an issue as i wont need it, this may not be an issue with your hardware though.

I would recommend a modular PSU if you decide to go for this case.

Re: Best Value ATX HTPC case

I'm using a Fractal Design Define R2 as my HTPC and love it. Very quiet with door closed, Yet can encode video with i7 920 @ 3.5GHz with 65c max or open door and 62c max.

    Or a Lian Li A05FN

Or a Lian Li A05N with motherboard access from right side

Was leaning toward Lian Li but got my Define R2 used.

Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

Re: Best Value ATX HTPC case

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but any comments about the CM 360 or 361 cases as these look like good value, I've got a i3 2100 and a Gigabyte z68 ATX mobo waiting to find a new home.
The Silverstone GD05B looks like a great case but its only caters for micro ATX
I was also leaning towards the P183 but its looks a bit to big to sit near the TV lol
