    Best mATX Quiet Gaming Case

    Hi everyone,

I've recently upgraded my computer so it's now powered by a i7 2600k. By chance the motherboard I've got is micro ATX rather than standard ATX. My current case is an Antec P182. Whilst it's a lovely case, it's seen better days thanks to its many trips to and from University, and it's somewhat huge given my now smaller motherboard.

So what mATX case would people suggest? I'd like something that's shuttle shaped, as in not a tower, and hopefully as quiet as my P182. My GPU is a Zotac GTX560 Ti 448 core, which apparently is fairly short as high end GPUs go. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Ah, sorry, I missed that 'non tower' specification.

You'll not get anything "shuttle shaped" and mATX, you can get cube case and mATX, but shuttles are long and skinny as well as short, you need to move down to mini-ITX or a FLEX variant (which is what shuttles use) for that.

For a gaming cube, Xigmatek Gigas, Lian Li PC-V353

Actually the closest you'll get to shuttle would be the Lian Li PC-V354

    Just for reference
    Lian Li V354 Dimensions (W) 245mm x (H) 320mm x (D) 420mm
    Shuttle SZ68R5 Dimensions (W) 216mm x (H) 198mm x (D) 332mm
The Lain Li is still a good chunk larger esp in height.

You could consider the SilverStone Fortress FT03, that's like a shuttle stood on it's end, yes still larger than a shuttle but closer to shuttle ratios.

Alternately you could look look at desktop/htpc style chassis

Yes and no, it is restricted in both size of cpu cooler and sfx psu.
Nether of which are always that conducive to a silence system, which is why I didn't mention it or some of the other cubes out there.

Re: Best mATX Quiet Gaming Case

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was very tempted by the FT03, it is a very nice looking and distinctive case. The only issue I have with it is the ridiculous DVD drive. Admittedly the only thing I use DVD drives for these days is OS installation and the occasional game install, but still. I'd feel silly having to either shell out an additional £50 for a slot loading DVD drive, or have to rely on my external drive.

Anyone have any experience with the FT03? I've looked at reviews and it's supposed to be very good, I just don't like the idea of spending £110 on a case only to have to buy a dvd drive too for £50!

While we're at it, how does the free postage with them work? One page I found said I just had to have been a member for about a month or so (check!), but another said I had to have over twenty posts (not check! ). Can someone provide me with the appropriate link?

D'uh, silly me. I was looking at the AVForums loyalty program, which I'm also a member of. That doesn't appear to have the twenty post rule so I might try that Thanks!

560ti is hardly high end and the quitness of the system will depend on case fans & component coolers
