    120mm Fans

Right guys got a coolermaster 430 case,
bit noddy but fits everything in,
currently got some cheap molex fans in there (very loud)
what are the best fans to get and is it worth getting a controller for the price
dont wanna spend more than £25 on cooling for my system,
    currently have a 6970 and a i5 2320

Firstly how man fans are we talking? 2..3.. 4... all 120mm?

Look at Akasa for cheap ones.
Zalman or noctua if you're willing to pay a bit more.
Sharkoon get good reviews too although I have never tried them.

With the Zalman and noctua you don't need a controller, they come with two wires, low voltage and high voltage.

Screw resistors, it's all about PWM control now!

    Re: 120mm Fans

Eeeeer no it's not, I'll admit I love PWM control, but apart from the cpu fan PWM has fallen out of favour at one point motherboards had multiple PWM fan headers but now they've dropped them in favour of the cheaper and easier 3pin non-PWM, esp as fans have now dropped in rpm far more.

For cheap good fans YateLoon are still great, for very quiet yet cheap fans the BitFenix specter fans are really good

A fan controller will depend on what you're after and the fans you're using.
There are some really good cheap fan controllers out there, both akasa and silverstone do a good 3 fan controller that fits in a 3.5" bay and cost around £10

    answer a few questions
    LED or non-led?
    how many?
cooling vs noise which is more important to you?
Any details on the current fans? esp rpm?

    Re: 120mm Fans

My system as a total of 5 120mm fans in it.

one on the CPU cooler which is PWM controlled

4 basic molex 120mm which plug directly into the PSU

My system is near silent the only fan I can hear is the one on the GPU.

I achieved this by going old school and using a 4 pin molex pass through wire and doing a 7v conversion on it.

This is plugged into the psu and the 4 120mm fans are plugged in daisy chain behind it. (then for added safety I tape over the molex on the last fan so I don't forget and plug it into something).

The fans turn quite a bit slower but still push a decent amount of air.

My system temp is usually around 30c and never goes above 35c unless it's really hot in here

CPU idles at 33c average and peaks at 52c on full load (Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition)

Noise level is negligible it's so quiet that even though it is in the living room you don't even notice it's on.

I can recommend the noiseblocker XL fans. I have several XL2s in my case, low noise, come with vibration mounts and at a decent price.
