Cheap Small Case for an HTPC

Okies after some upgrades and returns and what not I have a bunch of old PC parts kicking around and want to try to build a HTPC.

Anyone know of a decent CHEAP case that supports ATX formfactor and isnt too big, needs to support full size ATX PSU/Mobo and Full height graphics card

    That's only matx right?

I'm not sure a cheap htpc case that fits full size gpu and an atx board exists tbh, especially a particularly small one. You could maybe mod something?
There's this kind of thing: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_0868.html But it's not that cheap and I'm not sure it's even that small.

I'm sure someone who knows more will come by sooner or later.

Re: Cheap Small Case for an HTPC

again CAT, that's mATX not ATX.

You're not going to get a cheap, small ATX case. In fact, you're not going to get a small ATX case at all - the size of the motherboard really precludes that. Nearest you're going to get is probably the Coolermaster Elite 360, which is one of the few ATX cases that's designed to be run as a tower *or* as a desktop. Time was ebuyer had some budget desktop ATX cases, but they seem to have been discontinued now.

What are the components you're planning on using?

Its basically my old pc that i figured probably would make a half decent htpc. I saw some small ATX cases a long time ago somewhere but cannot remember where.

Re: Cheap Small Case for an HTPC

Yeah, I get it's your old PC - what was the spec? If you can swap for an mATX motherboard at not too much cost it might be worth it and you'd get a much better choice of small cases to work with. Obviously with ATX small is relative: if the motherboard's more than 30cm long then there's a limit to how small your case can go!

As I said, ebuyer used to have a range of full ATX desktop cases that were reasonably-sized, but they seem to have been discontinued. There are a few smallish ATX cases but they're all well over £50, so I wouldn't class them as cheap I guess the other option would be to scratch build, if you're any good with power tools...?

I think you could be better off with a matx mobo and matx case. I think they look better as HTPCs too.

Re: Cheap Small Case for an HTPC

Agree with the above. You can get some Lian-Li ATX HTPC cases, but they obviously aren't "budget" items..

There are lots of cheap desktop-style mATX cases about that take full ATX PSUs.
