Antec Twelve Hundred - broken fans help

I've had my Antec Twelve hundred case for about 4 ish years and i 'had' this weird fan noise the last week, i say had - because I watched my PC intently as it made this god-awful noise and saw it stop as soon as the back Fan died.

So, just a quick question for anyone that knows - is it straightforward and easy to replace the back fans on this case? or do i need to get specific replacement fans?

As far as I know, its just some Antec tricool 120mm fans screwed into the chassis, i'd prefer to double check before buying replacements fans though ;P

    Any help is appreciated, cheers.

I don't have personally any experience with this case, but by looking at the pictures I would say the replacement is difficult as with any standard case - not at all.

About the replacement fan, you said one of them died. That means one of the originally two fans is still going. If you would like to preserve symmetry, I would suggest you to buy the same fan as the current working one.

If symmetry doesn't bothers you at all, I would dare even to say buy ANY 120mm similar looking fan (number of blades and thickness).

I should have added "The other back fan has been dead for a while, but the other one died this morning after making some really worrying noises (i thought it could have been my GPU fan, sort of glad it isn't)

Cheers for the help then, i feel a tad more confident about just getting 2 120mm fans that will suit the chassis - i.e they will be black. Replacing them seems like a bit of messing about but nothing too bad, Ta again Bonebreaker777.

Actually it's a little more complex because of the built in fan controllers.
The tri-cool fans have an extra wire leading to a small switch with low-medium-high settings, this switch is clipped into a socket on the back so you can change the setting without having to open your case.
The Antec fans are the only fans to have these, the new ture-quiet and two-cool also use them but only with two setting.

You can use any 120mm fan in there you just will not get the control switch, but personally that's not great loss
Low noise look at around the 1200-1400rpm
very quiet look at around 1000 rpm

good cheap led fans look at the bitfenix spectre http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...pid-12722.html
good cheap non-led look at the yateloon 1350rpm http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...-pid-5755.html

EDIT: Oh and the hideous noise was the bearing dieing btw, with the bearing seized up the fan motor probably burnt out, but unplug them just in case

Sorry for my insufficient reply, Pob255 have more insight into the fans of this sort

But I can only support his findings and suggestions. I forgot to add if you are going to chose a replacement non-original fan, look out for rpm as well.

well, i never really used the back switches to control the fan speed much anyway, so it isn't a great loss.
completely forgot about the switch at the back to control the LED and speed.

    Cheers for the help ^^

That edit is mighty informative - cheers!.
