Cooler Master Cosmos 2 Fan Controller
I just got a new cosmos 2 case. I have read a bit about some cases being shipped with a potentially faulty fan controller if its used with non CM fans.
Is there anyway to tell from looking at the fan controller unit, if my case came with the old or the updated fan controller unit?
Thanks in advance
JD
Re: Cooler Master Cosmos 2 Fan Controller
Umm AFAIK coolermaster didn't do anything special, a fan controller works with standard 3pin fans, reducing the voltage to reduce the speed.
There is nothing special about coolermaster fans that would prevent other fans working on it.
Only things I can think of is some fans have a separate 2pin lead for led's so you can turn them on and off independently from the fan, also allows for the fan speed to be changed without dimming the led's), but that's not the controller
EDIT: in fact you can see from the manual that's exactly what's going on.
There's a standard header for each fan and a 2nd header for independent led lighting, so a fan without the additional connector, the light on/off button will not work but the control will.
Re: Cooler Master Cosmos 2 Fan Controller
I read a few articles suggesting there is an issue using cm,s controller with non cm fans. I contacted cm and they acknowledged the problem. Brand new updated control unit winging its way to me free of charge.
I was disappointed to read the issues with cm,s flagship product, but I'm not disappointed with their customer service. Fast reply and posting the complete unit free of charge, can't say fairer than that.
