    Re: Mike's Case Mod - Vinyl/Acrylic/UV

NOTE:This will all be updated as I soon will be spray painting the case why not, the modder inside me wants to paint!

Also taken your advise and bought myself a rivet gun and spare rivets let's do this properly

Roughly how much primer/paint would I need? My case is average mid-tower.

    (WxHxD) 190 x 410 x 457 mm (7.5 x 16.1 x 18.0 inch)

    Painting:
    Motherboard tray
    HDD bays
Rear panel (what's left of it)

I will be spraying areas orange inside.

    1) File down those areas first
    2) Paint

This will probably commence mid May

    Thanks for all your help!

    Re: Mike's Case Mod - Vinyl/Acrylic/UV

After all that vinyl sheeting you're going to peel it off and start again?

    or just those few bits?

I'm guessing you'll use spray cans, one can of primer, once can of colour should be fine for that.
you might want to get a can of clear lacquer too, esp for the rear panel as that's going to get the most ware from having cards put in and out of it.
You'll also want some sand paper, 400 and 800 grit should be fine, you can get pads instead, they look like scouring pads but red coloured.
Tack cloths are good for cleaning, esp before and after primer.
A roll of good masking tape (very cheap stuff tends to not hold at all)
    newspaper
An area to spray and a good area to dry.

If you want to do the whole case then you'll want more paint, one can of primer should still be enough as one thin layer is enough but you'll want 2 or 3 cans of colour and 4 cans of clear coat.

    Re: Mike's Case Mod - Vinyl/Acrylic/UV

Maybe not all. The side panel I'll leave because that's fine. Its just the most used areas, they're becoming more... Duct tapey if you get me.

Inspired by your work, I think if this is going to be my permanent desktop I should put more work into it to make it look decent :-P

I'll leave the images up and build on this thread. I'll move some images to the first few posts so it isn't all over the place.

Thanks for the guide :-) fortunately I've got some decent masking tape in the house and sand paper. Will have to check up on them though.

I can get 6 x 300ml colour spray for £9.50 ish, it sounds a lot but not sure.

I'll begin hunting for some cans.

Fingers crossed this will turn out good.

I'll start smoothing out those holes and make more before I start painting.

Thanks for your help throughout this Pob I appreciate it :-)

    EDIT:
Are automotive spray paints alright to use? Toxic wise. Obviously a face mask will be used
