Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

I've been looking around for a decent case for my new build and wanted a decent case which had a lot of room for a gtx 780 and with closed loop water cooling capabilities

I have one in mind but wanted to know peoples opinion of it since it is pretty good for the price
    Inwin Dragon Rider white edition

If anyone knows any cases similar to what im looking for it would be much appreciated

Hi, how much is that case you are looking at? I can only find the full tower version and that is £103 which I think is a bit expensive. Have you looked at the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/fract...ck-with-window it has plenty of water cooling options, has a removable HDD cage fof improved airflow, it comes with some quiet fans and has a really easy to remove front dust filter, you dont even have to remove the front panel.

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

If i was buying a case now i would probably go for the Corsair 600T limited edition white case. Yes at £155 it's more than the Inwin but it's a high quality case and a case is going to last much longer than all the bits inside it if you chabge things around as often as i do.

Around the same price as the Inwin is the Corsair Carbide 500R which is another quality case.

Cheaper is the midi sized Aerocool X-Predator X3 or the full tower X-Predator large which is a similar price as the Inwin. It is huge though!!

At the end of the day a case is a personal preference. You are the one who has to look at it all the time.

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

The inwin im looking at is £69.99 so I thought that was pretty good for a full sized case and I have seen good reviews about it on newegg

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

Ah right. Most of the ones i suggested are over that price then. I did a quick look for the Dragon rider white edition and it was £97. Still, the case is the component that will outlast all the others so it's worth getting a decent one to start with. Like i said though, a case is personal. What looks good to one person might not to another. I have added links to the ones i suggested now that i am able to.

Corsair 300r is a great case but doesn't support h100 WC, unless officially :-). I've seen online people who still managed to fit it in without any physical mods

Have you seen the new Phanteks Enthoo Primo? Cost is £199.99 so it's not cheap but you won't need to buy another case for a long long time. Primo's features and versatility are amazing.

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

Fractal Design cases are very nice too. I'm using an old Define R2 and have no complaints. The Arc Midi is also good, just not as quiet.. and if you open the door on Define it cools as well as Arc

Phanteks Enthoo Primo £199.99 (250mm x 650mm x 600mm WxHxD) No question, the best but not cheap either.

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

As suggested before the Fractal Design Define R4 would be in the top group of case contenders for a sub £80 case. The others I'd consider are the Cooler Master CM690 III and Cooler Master Silencio 550.

I like the look of those 3 cases and they all perform very well with the Fractal Design Define R4 and Cooler Master Silencio 550 being optimised for silent operation if you would like that. In terms of performance alone I'd choose the CM690 III, lots of options for airflow with 6 fan positions that support 120mm and 140mm with 3 of those slots being able to accommodate 200mm fans.

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

I always hate answering this type of question. Personally, I think that case is butt-ugly and I wouldn't give it house-room. I prefer a far cleaner design that doesn't resemble something a Mattel designer might doodle on his/her day off. That Phanteks case is far more my style, and from a quick perusal seems to be both superbly designed and engineered .... but at a price. The Fractal Design cases are also much more appealing to me, appearance-wise.

So, on appearance, pastymuncher hit the nail on the head ...
At the end of the day a case is a personal preference. You are the one who has to look at it all the time.
First decision .... how important are price, and appearance?

Second decision .... how does a given case stack up in terms of funtionality for YOUR needs? On that score, that case seems to do pretty well, and for a decent price. But personally, the only way I'd buy it is if it's the only case I could afford that met my needs, because I think it's ugly. But if you like the style, well, that's personal preference for you.

The Fractal Design Define R4 definitely looks well and seems to perform well on noise too.

Re: Opinion on case thinking of purchasing?

Define R4 with good PWM replacement fans using PWM signal from motherboard to control their speed same as CPU fans gives a silent system under normal use and will still cool a pretty serious overclock at full load without being too loud. If no OC it's hard to hear even at 100% load. My modded Define R2 2/ TY-140 case fans running an i7 980 under TC14PE w/ TY-147 fans & GTX580 DC2 is silent under normal use; 700rpm@24-28c and at 95-100% load 950-1050rpm@44-50c is just barely audible. GTX580 DC2 idles 30c@750rpm and 55c@1200rpm working hard.
