    Aaagh the noise.....

Well i have setup my new rig in a Lian Li PC 60 case which is fitted with four 80mm fans and the noise is unbearable after my little shuttle. Do i really need four fans as I also have an enermax psu with its extra fan plus I only have 1xhdd, 1x dvd, so its not in need of lots of cooling. i am also using the retail heatsink with my Skt 754 3400 and that too has what looks like an 80mm fan.

have you thought of installing some foam inside the side panel i have done this before and it has lowered the noise down a fair bit.

If it's a PC60 you can turn down the front fans with the knob behind the front panel - tbh with what yo have got you could probably remove them totally.

i was thinking of removing them to be honest, or just putting some very quiet fans in there like noiseblockers.

You could install a fanbus and lower the fans' speed. You would still have good air circulation with lower noise.

If you are running an average non-overclocked system in an aluminium case, I would suggest you switch off all the fans except a low noise one at the rear and see what it does to your temps especiallly during gameplay etc. If it is acceptable to you- I would personally exchange higher temps for lower noise as long a sit does'nt interfere with the functionality. I suspect you might get away with just 1 80mm fan at the rear.
I agree fan controller is a very good idea and worked for me for 2 years until i moved to using some silenx fans.

try the vantec nexus 305 (i think) 3.5" bay fan controller

has 4 channels with 18w peak (3-4pin adapters included also)it goes from 0-12v so u can turn them off completely and it also gives you a few blue cathodes to chuck around if thats your thing

about £24inc if i remember, i had one and it was great, saves having to remove the fans and putting them back in again if it gets really hot and causes problems

If you're looking at replacing fans, I'd highly recommend those manufactured by Arctic Cooling. If you go for the 2L's (The ones with blue LEDs), though, do note that they're 35mm deep, as opposed to the standard 25mm.

Well perhaps one fan will suffice I will try it out later.
