    Case suggestings (cool n quiet)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/fract...ng-noise-absor

Looking at this case for my new build. I'm going to be running a 4670k, possibly with overclocking. I also plan on getting at least a 7970 or GTX 680 and also an aftermarket cooler. Also have crucial DDR3 ballistix elite RAM.

Will this all fit in to the case, or am I going to have to find a different one? And if so, what kind of cases would you suggest in the £60 range. I have also been looking at the bitfenix shinobi, but the £9 postage is killing that idea for me.

7970s are about 275mm and the case you linked (Fractal Design Define R3) is stating 290mm GPU support so it will all fit.
Personally if I had to pick a case in that range I would go for the Corsair Carbide 300R.
The Fractal Design Define R3 has all those sound damping foam, should be quieter, but I don't think it will be cooler, especially since you are planning to overclock.

    * Supports CPU coolers with height of ~165mm - spec from Fractal Design for the R3

    100 (L) x 139 (W) x 161 (H) mm - Freezer i30 dimensions.

Re: Case suggestings (cool n quiet)

If you're running air cooling like that personally I wouldn't take the chance with that kind of case. Something with better airflow and no damping is likely to run quieter overall as the fans that are in there will run slower. My build is an old modified atx/btx stacker (mesh front, mesh base 3*120 in the top @5V Rear exhaust on the mobo header.

At idle its basically inaudible. Obviously things spin up with games etc running, but still to tolerable levels - the good cooling means that the GPU fan maxs at about 55% even after an hour of furmark. If I were to box it all up you'd probably be looking at that running at 100% and sounding like a hoover.

Fractal Design R4? I have 2x140mm front fans, 2x140mm top fans, and a 120mm rear fan (but it supports a 140mm rear fan if you want). Makes a low hum under all conditions with my Sapphire HD7870, love it

i really dont want to spend almost 80 quid on a pc case. How about the antec 300 2? The max cooler height is 170, so id be interested in cooling more than anything

A good case will last you a long time, given the price difference between the R4 and 300 2 is ~ £22-25, and having built in both cases I can assure you it's money well spent. You get 2x 140mm fans, acoustic lining to the side panels, in-built fan controller, better build quality generally.

That's not to say the Antec 300 2 is a bad case, but the R4 offers more for your money, even though it's a few quid more.

Re: Case suggestings (cool n quiet)

I have all of those in an R3 running a 3570k at 4.5. I have no issues on temps with two front intakes, one rear exhaust and one top exhaust. At idle it's silent. At full bore the GPU wind force cooler is audible as a whoosh but that's all
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.
