New case for my HTPC - fairly big, quiet, sata dock and 5 3.5" inside
Hi all
I'm after a new case for my HTPC. I've seen a couple of cases with SATA docks on the top (bitfenix ghost http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/pr...chassis/ghost/ and thermaltake urban t31 http://uk.thermaltake.com/products-m...?id=C_00002143) and that would be very useful for me.
It's going to live behind the telly so needs to be quiet, but I need room inside to fit all my hard drives.
Budget is £100.
Anyone have any thoughts or better ideas?

What's the hardware going in it? ;)

And what kind of size are you looking at? You mentioned behind the TV so are we talking vesa-mountable? Or MITX/MATX that you can hide away?

The bigger the better size wise. Currently got a mid tower.
I can't decide whether to go with an A8 or an i3 with a 660i or an R7 of some kind. Mainly for movies with some gaming thrown in

The Thermaltake has very little air intake at the front.
Just had a quick look at a review of the BitFenix Ghost on AnandTech and I think it would be better than the TT.

If you're definitely having a discrete graphics card in there, have a look at the Athlon II X4 760k - basically the same CPU performance as an A8 6600k/A10 5800k, but 20% (or more) cheaper (and a lot cheaper than an i3). Or look at the FX 6300 - at £82 it's a bit of a bargain for a 6 thread CPU.
If you're not set on discrete graphics, the Kaveri APUs should handle 1080p low to medium settings OK for most games.
If you're looking at any size case at all, a budget option might be this casecom CS-14 trident - you'd need to add some kind of 5.25" to 3.5" adapter to get your external dock, but there's plenty of options for that, and at £35 it's going to fall well within budget even with a particularly fancy hot-swap caddy ;)

Or get one of the startech usb3 docking stations http://www.dabs.com/products/startec...-3-0-89CX.html or ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/434387-startec...hdd-satdocku3e as you could combine that with the case for free shipping
I've got the older usb2, sata&IDE version at work, great bit of kit :)
The coolermaster silencio 550 might be a good option too http://www.ebuyer.com/542243-cooler-...e-rc-550l-kkn1 that's supposed to have decent airflow and has a docking station

I'm thinking Kaveri too for a HTPC build, though I am waiting for the A8 7600 to come out. Still not for sale as far as I can tell! Also going to use a Micro Atx - was thinking BitFenix Colossus M:-

Anyone have an Idea on 7600 availability?
