help me choose a case: big, sata dock, USB 3 and quiet
Hi all
I'm looking for a new case. It's going to live behind the telly (Not wall mounted) so the bigger the better. Because of this is needs to be quiet too.
I really like the ones with a sata dock on the top. That would be very useful.
My top contenders are:
Thermal take Urban S41/S71
NZXT H2
InWin GRone
Gelid Solutions Dark force
Corsair Obsidion 650D
I'll need to be able to fit a Sapphire 7950 in it, no optical drive and 5 x 3.5" HDDs.
I think I'm swinging towards the Gelid as I can pick it up for about £60. Any suggestions would be great though.
Thanks

Also seen the own brand case from Novatech. Looks good.

NZXT H440 :)
I'm biased, but in all honesty it looks like a great case.

Thanks, but it doesn't have a sata dock

Aw, must've subconsciously missed that part. From the list, I'd personally go for the Corsair, if it's anything like the 750D then it's a really fun case to work with.
The price difference between that and the Gelid is pretty substantial though. If it's just going to go behind the telly, maybe looks isn't that important?

BitFenix Ghost is another case marketed as quiet, and has a SATA dock.

Looks like it's the same case as the Enermax Hoplite alright, overall not really a large case, a good sized atx mid tower though, for the cost it looks like a decent option.
avoid the NZXT H2, it's got some major airflow issues due to a lack of gap between the door and the front intakes
The thermaltake S71 looks good, :surprised: yes a decent product from tt, although the door can only be opened from the bottom, so not good if you want it on the floor.
The front filter looks rather restrictive

That thing is more solid plastic than mesh.
The S41 is similar but smaller, interestingly there's only a 120mm fan in the front and while there are mounting points for a 200mm fan you cannot fit one as it clashes with the bottom 5.25" bay.
There's also some quality issues raised with the plastic used for the bezels (top and front) http://www.maximumpc.com/thermaltake...41_review_2014
InWin GRone, this is a big case, with lots of width, no 200mm fans here but instead a use of 140mm fans all over instead of 120mm fans, a massive 30mm of space behind the motherboard tray for cables but no tie down points (you might want to get some of the stick on kind)
Looks are a bit garish, not like the clean look of the tt urban's or NZXT H2 and the filters are not that fine.
Gelid Solutions Dark force, seems to be a copy of the coolermaster 690 II which you could also add to the list.
One thing I would add is this http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-Sup.../dp/B0033AF5WW instead of built into the case.
Re: help me choose a case: big, sata dock, USB 3 and quiet
Thanks for the reply. I've been having a good look and think I've settled on a case - it doesn't have a sata dock but Scan sell something that'll do it. Icy Box internal trayless sata dock (won't let me paste the link on my phone).
The case is the NZXT H630 because it's massive, quiet and just a shade over £100.
