The P9x79-E is E-ATX form factor. One of the largest out there, the Define R5 only supports ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX
So to your answer your question. It is not compatible according to Fractal, you\'ll need an E-ATX case.

Thanks. By any chance would you know if the corsair h80i is compatible with this case. Sorry for all these questions I'm new to pc building and pc parts checker says its not but the r4 is.

There is no reason the H80i isn't compatible. It will fit into the 120mm rear exhaust without any issues.

Thanks again
Re: Fractal Design Define R5
H80i is compatible at rear exhaust
Re: Fractal Design Define R5
Thanks. One more thing would you know if the windforce gtx 970 gaming graphics card would fit in this case with both dive cages in?
Re: Fractal Design Define R5
Noise wise, the only issue I encountered was with Seagate barracuda 3tb drives. they just seemed to set the whole case vibrating. swapped out to an old 1tb wd green and a 2tb Samsung, and it's so much better. The case seemed to "hum" with the Seagate drives, but they do seem very noisy drives to me anyway.
Re: Fractal Design Define R5
I think it is really good. If you have a define R4, it isn't worth the upgrade, but i do think that you should buy the R5 if you have neither. There are some very good and useful upgrades.
