LED strips throw off a lot of light and would light the entire case, fans not so much.

In that case I would look at strips myself.

I'd suggest looking at other options too, such as LED assemblies that can either be altered in level or configuration.
I tried some LED strips, which ended up being WAAAAAAAAAAY too bright and some others which were too dark. I also found problems getting the lighting to look good.

In the end, I got clusters and short strips of LEDs from bespoke builders, which I wired into a 4-pin molex. This allowed me to direct the light exactly where I wanted and to the level of brightness, all for about the same price as two decent LED strips.

There are also the led strips that can be cut down literally as you like, I agree some are far far too bright, I bought some white ones but ended up getting red for mine as the white looked like a laser light show.
