    PCIE Extenders

Hey, was wondering if anyone has any experience with pcie extenders, I got a cheap one off eBay but gpuz says my card is running at gen 1 8x. It was only about £5 so I'm not surprised at this. I was wondering if it's worth going for the more expensive more professional looking ones.

    Thanks

What's the rest of your system specs?

Also, have you tried stressing the GPU while checking the interface/link speed?

    Pentium G3258 ( upgrading soon to i5 or i7)
    8 GB DDR3 Kingston beast
    MSI R9 280
    Collection of mechanical HDDs
    Asrock z97 anniversary

I stressed it using the feature in gpuz if that is what you mean

    Re: PCIE Extenders

It depends what you buy. Not only price (premium) matters. when you buy look at the speed it's designed for, you'll get from x1 to x16.

It was supposed to be x16 so think going to look round and find one that suits what I need the best not just a cheap one to do the job.

Sounds like your riser card is only rated for PCI-E gen 1, only reason I could think of for the detection as that and x8.

    Try one of these http://www.moddiy.com/search.php?sea...+riser&x=0&y=0
