Water Cooling Drain Port Ideas
Hello,
I am thinking of water cooling my new rig with an open system, however I want to have a drain port with a 10/13mm G1/4 Plug maybe off a Y Port. However if I am using soft tubing with compression parts (black) and I am not sure of the possible parts I need for this drain port idea? EKWB parts or some other brand would be good to use.
Any advise would be great :-)
Thanks :juggle:
Re: Water Cooling Drain Port Ideas
Some radiators, notably from Alphacool and Phobya use G1/4" bleed ports at the bottom, which are ideal to use for draining the loop - If you have the space, you could fit a valve to it.
Re: Water Cooling Drain Port Ideas
I just designed my compression fitting placement so I could get a catch-vessel underneath, unscrew the fitting and drain directly in.
I have a secondary/alternative drain point out the back of my case, too.
Simple T-piece, bit of tube for draining, then the end plug of your choice will do fine. You could put a valve/tap in if you want to be fancy about it.

Exactly what i have done.
Re: Water Cooling Drain Port Ideas
I've used a T as above which worked well.
In my current machine I just unbolt the tube reservoir, unscrew the top cap and pour the lot in to a bucket.

Also used a T piece with hose clips and a fill port on the end to drain my loops.

Excellent thanks for the feedback - T-Piece seems the way to go :-)
