The only thing is its a very expensive painting system. Some pearlescant examples can be found on the Hexus review site Blue Cobra (The chip on the corner has been fixed and was due to a slight case fault and the Cobra's systems since have been corrected)
Extract from Hexus
I find the Blue Cobra more impressive personally, but of the people that came round to see me in the weeks running up to SLI's launch, the majority were more gobsmacked by the white version. It's exceptionally engaging right up close, where you can see the individual paint flakes that make up the paint application, but then if you sit with your face that close to the chassis all the time, you need to seek some professional help.
Been modding PC's for over 5 years. Other examples can be found on Custom PC or PC Pro.
My new website will be online this week. I'll let you know the URL as soon as its up.
Regards

Looking forward to the new site - hope you have a good gallery section!![]()
Yep,
There's also gonna be a "Help" section for anyone who needs any practical advice and an area for peeps to upload their pics to show were they may be going wrong or to just show off![]()
well.....i found some flip paint, was £250 for half a pint of 6 colour filp!!! so not to be deterred i went to halfords and found some metal flake black for a fiver so had a go with that instead this weekend
and then found some pearlescent indigo blue
what you guys think? its the first time ive painted plastic.
ooh and looking forward to the site rimmer![]()
IIRC, Standox / ICI were the first to pioneer the Chromaflare/Flip pigment paints in the automotive industry, followed a few years later by some cheaper alternatives, by the likes of Rage Coverings etc etc.Originally Posted by noahhowes
As Rimmer pointed out, it's not only the cost of the paint (upwards of £50 a litre), but the application that's costly, especially with multi-base/layer flips - but I guess worth it for such a small area as a PC case...Just make sure they laqueur it GOOD to stop chipping!
<sigh> I've still got 2 litres of black base and 5 litres of Trophy Blue Pearlescent (like on the newer MGTF's) sitting in the shed for a project that never happened.. </sigh>
S.
EDIT: Looking forward to the site too..![]()

Hopefully be online in the next two days. Just been doing some cases today in pearlescant yellow, biomorphice pearl green and deep red pearl.
Hope to get them on soon. Got too many pics to go through![]()
after talking with rimmer (impressive paint jobs by the way), I was wondering if any one had thought of a graphit style laptop design.
How would you go about it ? what paints to use ?
just a thought
It is Inevitable.....
Trouble with lappys I guess ... no margin for error... who wants to replace one in case of an accident![]()
