    COLD cathode

ok so my supposed cold cathode was only £2.99 ex vat on ebuyer, but is there any reason why its HOT very HOT, its putting the temp of my pc up by 4 degrees C.

    do they all do it?

where should i put it in my case to minimise heat getting to the cpu?

(my pc was running at 63, just managed to get it down to about 55, thats why im worried about heat)

I have 2 in my case and as far as I can tell they out little to no heat out at all, there not even warm to the touch.

one in my new rig gets hot, but the other stays cold. the one that is hot is just the glass tube though, whereas the other is plastic encapsulated. Mind you, there is enough airflow in the case for it not to worry me....

Maybe the cheaper they are the hotter they get? Mine were about £15 each if I remember rightly.

my maplin cathodes get very hot at the ends. wherever you put them in the case its going to make a difference. if you have a real problem with the internal case temps. make a cardboard duct straight into the heatsink and fan to see if that makes a difference. the rule of thumb with processors if its not crashing don't worry that much about the temps. 63 is quite high though
