Apparently there is a chance that a defect could cause a fire and NZXT is pausing sales while they issue a simple repair kit that will be shipped to current owners.

Good that they're fairly open about it and are dealing with the issue.
From the official NZXT post it sounds like 2 slightly longer screws needed with a non-conductive washer each side of the pcie riser board. If so no biggy. I wouldn't be surprised if you could probably DIY it using anti-vibration washers while you wait for the official kit! Number of occurences <10 so it's good to see them taking action. Less honest manufacturer's would hide behind "non-reproducable random faults" until the stats mounted up worse than that. Equally when the fix is so cheap, why not just do the right thing.
Edit: However this fix could be at the expense of removing ground to the chassis, so does this indicate there is a ground potential issue with the riser board that is causing the problem? If so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a rev2 of those boards soon with improved circuitry. So long as the riser card can still be grounded via internal mount screws and/or the pcie connection (which presumably has a ground on it) then it will hopefully be ok. Otherwise there is a small risk of electrical noise and/or static shock when tinkering if charge hasn't dissipated.
