Does Using UV Cathodes Degrade Cabling?

I know this probably doesn't really apply in computers as the kit is changed so often, but when you buy network cable, you have to buy UV stabilized cable if you plan on running it outside, so the sun doesn't degrade it. Does this happen in computer cases, or would the amount it affects things be tiny?

    Thanks

This came up in my CDT coursework, and one thing was that UV light degrades all plastic. And i was told that it would have more of an effect inside a case where the light is more concentrated than outside. But, you know my CDt teacher so...

I was reading about this in the PCformat magazone, in theory yes it would degrade cabling, but a guy who said he had been running his computer next to a sun bad, i.e. lots of UV, for 10 years, never had any probs

What's the intensity of UV cathodes?

I mean, stuff thats outside gets 14 hours a day of high intensity sunlight, which can be very stong in the summer. Sunbeds are a much lower intensity than full sunlight, and I'm sure cathodes are less by an order of magnitude.
