    Project Tall Tower 56k unfriendly!!!

    Heres the project log for TALL tower! (also on Bit Tech see link in signature)

    Ok lets get the introductions out of the way !

    System:

    AMD Athlon XP 2000 @1.66ghz
    80GB 7200rpm HDD
    DVD
    17" Philips CRT
    64 MB ATi Video Tv Out
    Windows XP Home SP1

    Case:

    7 51/4 bays
    2 3 1/2 bays


    Mod Ideas

    1. Removing the paint to create a brushed steel finish.

    2. Paint front black

    3. Two 120mm blow holes on top

    4. Clear perspex top

    5. Green Cathode

    6. LED Colour Change

    7. Hard Drive Switch - windows - linux

    8. Key Switches for power and HD switch

    9. Later Additions: LCD or VFD

    10. Fan Controllers

    11. Watercooling

    Ok the paint removal (this took a while!!! still not properly finished)

    At last all I need to do now is get the panel sandeded down using an orbital sander!

    (these pics enhanced auto colour correction)







    anyway ive used wet and dry on the side panel so heres wat it looks like so far may need more work and then a buff up

    Need to prepare bay panels for stealthing

    well one is ready anyway

    (Thanks to Mr. Guitar Man for holding the panels )

    Used my new B&D to cut off the clips becarful at high speed the plastic starts to melt!

    Ok heres some painting pics i used a Gloss Finish Acrylic Car Paint buti will add a few coats to this to get it nice and smooth and shiney as possible


    The Chassis



    The first coat i know i put it on quite think and it run so ill have to sand it down alot before the next coat



    More painting pics started a coat on mb tray



    Aragh the paint problems the paint started to run on me, the coats were to thick!

    But the best part I have started to cut and grind the panel!!!!

    After some time a load of discs and alot of dust i have got this far need reinforced disks i think the standard ones dont last long at all

    Spray paint would get a better finish if done carefully, just make sure you keep plenty of the super caustic metal paint remover just incase.

    I used too dip my bike parts in paint remover that was meant for wood and the paint would just run off.

    Nice ideas there mate... i moddified the exact same case a couple of years back.... painted Blue and Silver, and had a large window in teh side with a UnrealTournament sticker on....

    It's a pretty nice case for the money and has TONS of room!
