    Cable wrap

I see all these wonderfull pictures of people who have modded thier cases and think, i wanna bit of that.

So, i look at my case and think...
    ..."AHA" I say, cable wrap!

But, on closer inspection i realise that halfway down the cables there are extra plugs and thew plaugs at the end are too wide to fit in some, say shower cable.

How do you guys do it?!

You can get cheap little tools that let you remove the molexes then refit them after the cable has been added.

Or if you really want to mod it properly, you can get ahold of some replacement molexes in different colours and/or with lights.

I haver been looking roung kustompcs and i think i think i have seen the tool but it had nothing about sata power?

I also wanted to electroplate the inside of my pc (eg motherboard tray) But, they are riveted together. Is there any solutuion and whaty abut putting them back, im not sure a normal hand riveter would do it use to getting both ends of the riviter to where the river goes aroung the case.

    Any more ideas?

I spent a lot of time removing my molex's etc with staples and screwdrivers, but boy was it worth it, and it saved me £20 odd quid.

If you remove them right you can get them back on yeah. If you want the tool you can pick up a pack of those quick release coloured molexes from maplin for a fiver. Rivets are best drilled put, with a bit a little larger than the middle of the rivet. Then you can replace them with either nut+bolt, or more rivets.

Does that make sense? U mean i can replace removed ones with new ones which are easy to take off in the future?

So if i drill the rivets out then i can just use nut and bolt if i cant re rivet them (wat u said) Then i can take it to the crome shop lol.

What other mods should i think about and wats the best way of going about things? (not working to a theme, just want it to look good)

What colour lights to go with crome and black?

red is normally quite good, but its your own preference
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks

No they have big bulges on top and bottom, squeeze them in, plug comes out of socket, quick release.

Personally id say white or blue lights, but thats up to you. Before you get your case chromed (very expensive and not particularly hard wearing) you might want to look into polishing, with a weekend of effort and about 20 quids worth of polish/sand paper you can get a mirror finish on aluminum.

Eh, taking the Molex off?!. Thats a load of hastle. I thought most modders use shrink cable wraps that just about fit over the connector then you use a hairdrier to shrink it. I have seen a few guides around. But removing the connectors would probably make for a better finish in the end.

Heat shrink is used to do the ends, in theory it fits over the cable, in practice its a different matter, also, since it only shrinks a certain amount, you get a tighter fit with smaller sleeve. Removing them isnt really that hard if you have the tool and once youve got the nack.

They do, but to be honest, I never got the knack of using it. I much prefer the set of removers I got on eBay for about £3 - really basic, only about 2cm long (blue & green for the male/female molex).

A neat trick I used when cable braid cant be used, is to get a length of hosepipe, wrap it in black electrical tape (or the colour of your choice) and then with a craft knife make slice one side down the middle so you can stick youe wires in it

    You mean a compass? j/k

You can always do it the lazy way & use spiral wrap (pverclock sell it in clear or black) which is literally a never-ending spiral that you can just wrap around the cables, without the need to remove any plugs, or even disconnect anything.
