    overclocking my AMD 64

    ive got an AMD 64 3500+ venice currently clocked at 2.2ghz i no its capable of MUCH MUCH more like 2.5 to 2.7ghz but ive tried overclocking it but my system wont boot when i do amd 64s arnt as easy to overclock as the old 32s.

    incase u want to know i hav an abit kn8 mobo

    Pleas post the rest of your system specs (which 3200 RAM, which HSF, which PSU) but try this:
    Set HT freq to 4x or 3x
    Put DRAM clock on 333
    Increase external clock initially by 5MHz at a time testing for stability as you go.

    probably best not to run Cool'n'Quiet if overclocking.

    scan standard pc 3200 ram 2 x 512mb
    Gbyte HSF 3in1 GHPCU31-SD
    580W HIPER MODULAR BLUE TYPER SU
    im alreayd running cool 'n' quiet drivers for my amd 64 is there a simple way to overclock e.g. not going into bios and ive been told by some ppl i will need to up core voltage is this true

    You'll need to increase the voltage to the CPU and possibly the chipset to get a stable overclock.

    Well, it's not advised to run C'n'Q whilst overclocking.
    You can use Clockgen to increase external clock but you will need to go into the BIOS to change the HT freq & the DRAM clock.

    You should be able to get a certain amount of overclock without increasing Vcore but at some point if you want more you will have to increase it.
