    Coolermaster Aero 7

Well, there I was, I'd just turned it up, as it was a bit hot, and I was just thinking to myself, what a great cooler this is, it's practically silent when it's turned down, and you can turn it up when it gets hot, and it looks cool, life couldn't be better...

when, all of a sudden, the noise stops!! I think Argh! the fans died! so I turn it up, and it makes some noise... phew it's still working a bit...

quickly shut it down, look in bios, and on full pelt it's going at 2800 rpm (When it should be about 4500!) and then on minimum, it's at 700rpm! something aint right, and it smells odd!!

So anyway, it's broken now, still spins, but I had to change it with another 70mm fan that I luckily had lying around ! It's noisier, but seems to cool it real well

suggestions for a replacement silent cooler ?

Do you have the Aero 7 or the Aero 7+? There were problems with the 7's and the fans burning out.

got it second hand, so i don't mind, as it was just £10

SLK-7 's are about £22 inc vat which sounds cool to me as i'll be able to stick an 80mm 20dba fan on there

how do they compare to the SLK-800 ? (which is twice the price?)

hmmm... got the SK-7 with a 20dba ys-tech - unfortunately, under load it's got up to 70 degrees C so it looks like i'll have to put a noisier fan on the thing - doh!

    josh...
if it got up to 70 degrees with a ys tech it;s probably because the internal case temp is too high, have you tried with the lid off or looked at the psu to see if it is above 30 degrees? if so the case needs more venting....
