ok, don't do this at home folks.

Now the advisor is over, my wife told me my PC was too noisy - it was blatently the Delta fan in the PCP&C PSU, looking at the model number it shifted something like 55cfm with a crazy dB to go with it. Fortunately I had an old, broken PCP&C PSU lying around, had a poke around in there as it had been off for months. (PSU's can hold a potentially lethal charge for a while folks) No space inside for a 120mm fan.

After about 2 hrs, I now have this bloomin great attachment on the back of my PC, a 'regular' 80mm fan with the guts ripped out attached directly to the PSU, an 80 to 120mm adapter and a 64cfm silenx fan on it, attached to the PSU fan connector.

Net result is something that looks awful (I've had to wrap insulting tape around it to block the gaps between the 80mm side on the adapter, and the old fan) but... as it sits behind my monitor and i cant see it anyway... I now have a much MUCH quieter computer and now realise why I never heard my raptors

Will next be connecting that fan speed sensor to something that can read it.

/wave warranty.
