im looking to add some lighting into my case to show off my upgraded watercooling kit and my new coolermaster stacker case, i was browsing over Scan and i noticed the Optx® By StreetGlow stuff

does anyone have any experience with this and is it worth getting some?

EDIT: well i saw all the stuff on today only so i decided to splash out on, it looks like decent stuff so hope it is

They started out doing cars, which is the only experience I've had with it. It was very good. All my PC lighting came from dabs cheap.

well I have 2 of those blue neo tubes in my Eclipse.. they're great as their build quality are alot better than those usual CC tubes I bought from Kustom..

The only grudge is their inverters cant be interchanged with any other CCs, and Optx dont sell them individually.. if your PSU goes, and it takes the inverter with it (which happened to me).. the tubes are rendered useless even if the tubes by itself are essentially fine..

Oh, just a reminder.. they're quite bright.. alot brighter than the usual CCs.. one of these tubes in the correct location is enough to light up the entire PC (and I mean every corner).. no kidding..
    Me want Ultrabook

Im planning on getting one a few of these. The 6inch Neo Blue ones to put into my Antec P180 when my side panel windw is done.

Are they just powered off normal 4pin power connector?

Any chance of some pics sawyen and johnny02004976 (when you get them)?

hi mate, you need to buy an inverter for any of the products (one inverter powers up to 4 items)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=115985

eveything just connects into this, this then runs off a 4pin molex

i will take some pics but its not going to be until wed/thurs my cam is with a mate

Considering they are used for cars, they would presumably be far more sturdy aswell, as I know I have broken a couple of cheap ebuyer ones in my time, might give them a shot when I do a flashy pc next time/put my old lanparty rig into a case

It's not an inverter, the inverter is provided with the tubes you buy. However when you buy the tubes they don't come with molex connectors, they come with plain metal paddle connectors. The 'Connector Kit' is simply a product that allows you to easily connect the paddle connectors to a molx connector. It's just another way for Optx to cash in - by not putting molex connector on the end of each item, they make it necessary for you to buy the connector kit. However if you don't want to pay £7.10, you can simply connect it yourself - I did so by removing the connector from a floppy power cable & then used a chocolate block (if you have any electronics background you'll know what these are).

I suppose the connectr kit does keep things slightly more tidy, as you can connect up to 4 items to one molex, but essentially it's just a cash-in.

Though I can't fault the quality of the Optx products as a whole.

Are you sure it's not because it makes it much cheaper for them to manufacture the same cathodes for cars as PCs, and then just have the consumer buy whichever invertor/connector that is required?
