i thought the demo was kinda cool. a lil on the average side, it doesnt seem to offer that much over other racing games, still good though, damage is pretty poor also, id been hearing about the realistic damage, seems pretty non-exisistant to me
the problem is that they still have the crappy stats system. rather than just giving us the HP and weight and letting us find the rest out for ourselves they are pretty much reviewing the cars. and obviously if there doing that they cant make one manufacture look weaker than another, so we get a bland mess and outright lies with regards to performance. the GT series got it right and it would be a simple enough method to copy, give us the basic stats of the car (hp, weight, dimensions etc) then let us figure out how it handles ourselves!!
still buying it tho

Can't wait for my wheel to arrive, I think I'll be much better with that.
I am sorely tempted to get a wheel now, but theres so much I want to buy!
On my shopping list so far:
The XFPS 360 kayboard and mouse adapter plus trimmings so I can have my mouse and keyboard working on both PCs (paid for it, in the post now and cost me about £50 in total).
Windows Vista so I can play Shadowrun and Halo 2 Vista plus said games
Racing wheel for the 360
Forza 2
Nice spangly widescreen monitor, probably the Dell 2407
Holiday with the gf
Just gotta decide which ones I want the most 8/ thats just the stuff I really really want (or being forced into ), theres a whole lot more I'd also love to have.
Ok, im going to try the demo again. lets hope second time around im impressed.

PGR4 is certainly a hell of a lot prettier than Forza.
I hope there are a lot of improvements for the production release. I must admit ive waited for this game for months now, and after playing the demo I felt slightly deflated. The graphics were lacklustre, and the handling was way too sensitive. Even with all of the assists off, and manual gear changes i felt it was still too easy, my speed seemed to be way too high (i.e. flying past cars on straights with similar power)
I will probably end up buying it nonetheless, but I hope they get the fundamentals right first. With better graphics, slightly less senstitive handling and better sounds I think it could be an amazing game
But maybe im too picky when it comes to my racers,
Chriswood, I believe the demo is on easy mode and damage is cosmetic only so it is pretty easy. I find the races easy to win so the challenge for me is competing with mates for lap records in the same car.
I must admit, the game doesn't look amazing. It still looks very very good and thoroughly enjoyable on my Plasma but it doesn't pop out at you like say Gears of War. That however doesn't bother me at all, I find it drives like an absolute dream. Just love the way the cars handle and love doing different moves around the track.
My Wireless Steering Wheel arrived in the post today too!
Unfortunately, I've got exams this weekend so I won't be playing properly again until next week. Can't wait though!
i should imaging the damage is going to be the same as the first game? i remember playing that and doing so well for 3 or 4 laps, the stacking it into a wall and losing my suspension and not being able to very fast , or in a straight line annoying but good at the same time, makes you want to learn to drive properly.
The wireless wheel is just amazing, the force feedback is so good! I've just been racing in the Ferrari F430 with all the assists turned off and it's brilliant, totally brilliant. Slip down to second gear, slide around the corner and you practically have to fight against the wheel to keep the car facing the right way. Touch the curb and you get a jolting shudder through your hands and arms, awesome.
So was it just me that wasn't exactly "wowed" by the demo...
Do you guys not find track racing boring? I'd much rather be racing around a city in PGR 4 or an Hawiian island in TDU.
I spose I might get into the full game but i'm not "feeling" it at the moment and I think PGR4 and Colin Mcraeirt are the 2 driving games i'm really waiting for.
