i think some games are region coded
some?
Yeah so you'd really be screwed in some cases unless you don't mind importing.
typically, games with licensed content are region locked (e.g. anything with real songs in it).
try http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-14-71-fc-49-en.html for region-free games (usually western games which have no hope of selling in bulk in east asia and don't warrant their own production run)
perhaps some examples of region locked games?
I'd like to know stuff I'd be missing out too..
USD399 seems pretty decent for a premium console..
Viva Pinata - Region free
Guitar Hero - Region locked (I think)
Why not get a HD-DVD drive & Elite HDD ? The elite drive is like £70 over there, then you could just buy a core 360 over here
Viva Pinata and Guitar Hero are both region free.
Mostly it depends on the game developers as previously stated, for example all Activision games AFAIK are region free and all EA games are region locked.
hmn... lets see if I could make this thread into a poll
great.. now this'll make things a little more transparent..
Developers/publishers making 360 games have the choice to region lock their games or not. But thats not different to the original xbox, apparently some of the later games like Fable were region free.
As said above, Play Asia usually says if a game can be played on your regions 360. Some new games haven't been tested so its unknown if they work or not.
