Don't worry, no need to thank me (as I didn't post any blinkered pro-PS3 comments ).

By the way, I've only followed Blu-Ray/HD-DVD in the US and Europe, and Blu-Ray is only winning in the US - could you share with me the other countries in which it is winning, please? I'd assume one of them is Japan, but I haven't seen any of the other statistics that you have - as you may be aware, Googling through the statistics is lengthy and boring (in order to get up-to-date stats based around the correct region and showing the appropriate figures - aaaaggghh! ) - if y'already have 'em, I'd love to see 'em.

I'm also a little suprised Barrichello hasn't yet amended the title of this thread, considering his comments against others about being factually wrong.

just ban these idiots - its people like this guy and keef247 that add no value and just make rubbish posts and take every thing personal thats ruining threads and in geneal bringing the forum down.

how many times does a user have to have this sort of attitude before something is done.

Mate, please clam it. Another direct and personal insult to someone like that again and you'll be looking at a suspension at the minimum. Steve is not a forum troll, just because you can not structure a conversation on these forums isn't his fault.

    Cheers

Right, i work for a certain video rental company. They had decided to go with blu ray over hd-dvd over a year ago. So why this is news now i don't know. They made this decision (in the uk atleast) because they were paid to (just as companies pay to have their movies in the chart). While i covered in a store a few weeks ago, i had a handfull of people bring blu ray boxes to the counter, 90% didnt know wht blu ray was and 10% owned a PS3. That 10% by the way was about 3 people, and 1 of them didnt even have an HD telly (i asked them if they had a 1080p to get the full effect) so he obviously missed the point.

EDIT: We don't rent PS3 games yet by the way because sony arnt letting us at the moment, not that there is any games really worth renting yet

BB Games (they were gamestation concessions) can still stock HD-DVD but thats a more complicated situation. Regular BB stores can't stock HD-DVD and it wasnt sony directly i wont go into details (as i need a job).

EDIT: To add another tilt on the situation, we are getting about 20% of blu ray disks back faulty because the tiniest of scratches and the disk is fubared. Oh and gtech stop acting like a 12 year old, please, why is it every thread you post in end in some sort of slagging match.

yeah i know, there seems to be alot of people against my opinions, not sure why only say what i think, dont actually offend anyone. I dont take forums too serious, all a bit lighthearted, so sorry all but dont take the banter to heart lads.
Anyway back to the point, it's very interesting to hear you say about faulty disks, if anything it's going to be you guys that find out first. We need to do some good ole tomorrows world tests, you know jam and all that.
Are there any tests out there to find out whats more durable?

my names not hugo thats my forum email address which you seem to think is clever to look up when its on public view for others to see.

your response to people thinking your a moron and offending people is just more offensive and possibly slightly more stupid that your posts in general.

Not to mention that your link does not mention region (although it's interesting - if those March figures are correct, then that means a lot of Europeans stopped buying Blu-ray discs and went back to HD-DVD in April). It does look like the US statistics which have already been linked to in this thread.

Especially when you consider that the figures you just provided tell us that people with dedicated HD-DVD drives have bought less than three movies for them, which doesn't quite add up to me - half of them spent over £200 on a HD-DVD player and God-knows-how-much on an HDTV, then could only afford £42 of movies? (Although that does cover most of the decent HD-DVD releases )

So, yeah. How about throwing an 'In The US' into the title? I know how much you hate factual wrongness, after all.

Last warning, cool it with the comments about people, its against the rules, which I suggest you read.

As for Blu-Ray, there's a big thing appearing on the net at the moment about Blu-Ray rot, apparently its fromt he same factory as the Laser Discs that Sony made.

Will have to get writing on that actually...

The marketing of blue-ray towards average folk is the single biggest problem for the BRF/Sony imo. On the flip side once people cotton on to HD-TV (which they are starting to), they will add 1 and 1 together and automatically make the connection between HD and DVD i.e HD-DVD; they will have an idea of what it is.

Blue-ray by its very name will be mysterious and complicated to understand (untill it clicks) for a lot of people out there. Also a nice percentage of Blue-Ray sales can be accounted for though people sending off for their free BR-Movie when they buy a PS3 (I don't know if this offer is still going though)...Somewhere down the line it's a hard cash sale.
