Hmmm I would who that could have been...... fingers crossed Lee that your console shall now be ok as the amount of work the guy did on your console was untrue, not only did it have new clamps fitted - the originals btw are still at mine, the heatsink also has to be replaced as the one inside previously was completely useless

Technically, I'm on my second, but only because I upgraded to an Elite and shipped my original to my brother in Canada, still working fine.

How a potential problem on this magnitude can be overlooked during R&D is beyond me. If their failing like this in the public domain then surely they must have been having above average failures during testing and development, or maybe they got lucky.

A mate of mine got his 360 back from repair 4 weeks ago, last week it was going back to MS in a box again only this time it was a RRoD problem. Mine hasn't failed yet, I am hoping that my cooling method will help ease the risk of it failing, but hey who knows, it looks like your either lucky, unlucky or seriously unlucky if you own a 360.
    33% will fail? Ouch

They wouldnt have got the failure in testing because it only appears after a minimum time frame.
Im writing up a piece about this as we talk for the forums, with any luck it'll be done by tomorrow

IMO the should've recalled all the consoles when they realised they were getting a lot of failures and redesigned the case to make it run cooler. Though that would've cause huge problems with bad press and stuff and the console probably wouldn't have sold so much.

I think the stats of the voting alone are showing this trend.

Thank you to all who voted as it's proved the figure I guestimated the other day when chatting to Carl about it before work - Yes sad, I know but it came up in the topic of conversation we were having.

Mine's running better than ever now. I was on Texas Hold'em and fell asleep at 10 last night. The console was on all night and was still running fine this morning before I left for work as I had a few hands.

The test will be weekend when I'll be playing viva pinata and a few other choice games like Fifa and NBA home court again.

As a relatively new xbox owner I share a level of concern about this. I'm a PC gamer really but bought the 360 on a whim one day - I'd have no problem buying a ps3 if it was priced better and had some decent games but as it isn't and doesn't offer owt over 360 so I didn't. If the 360 breaks, and if I end up in the same boat as some of the less fortunate above then I'd be mad as hell. MS knows there is a problem here, and to do nothing about it is incredibly poor and says a lot about MS as a corporation.

Mine had the three rings on Friday last week. The first time for me. I'm absolutely fuming. £85 to repair it! No chance, the cheek of it.

    Steven,

Maybe an article is in order

Not being funny does anyone else think its weird that all the following consoles bought on release date have all failed in the last month alone

    Mine
    Lee's
    Parms
    Stevens
    PeteB (scan)

I think Microsoft are well aware of the problems - and with the above poll shows 35% of 360's (well 38% including yours now Steve sorry) have been replaced. I would guess that the same percentage would have been bought in the first few months.

I had to get 2 replaced this week which failed in the space of 2 weeks of each other - the manufacturing date was identical on each console therefore I guess its only a matter of time before most users have to go back to Microsoft for a repair....

Anyone else think anything with a failure rate of 35% should be recalled?
