Xbox360 - Red ring of death Poll

I'm trying to gauge the amount of people who have have got an xbox360 and have seen the beloved red ring of death.

I don't need to see people posting petty, fanboyish comments like buy a wii or PS3 please and this is because even though there have been issues with the xbox - I still think it's a bloody fantastic console and I just want to see how many people on here who have xboxes have had hardware issues.

So - please vote for the amount of xboxes you've had and if your reading as a guest reader - why not register and add your name and vote to the total so we can get the data from a wider demographic area ( wahoo - big words from me on a Friday )

Just to make sure that certain users don't come in here flaming Microsoft, my console was out of warranty but Microsoft agreed to do it for free and it only took 5 working days over Easter.

So as you can see they really aren't as bad as a lot of people around here make out.

    Lee,

You know how many consoles I currently have in my lounge at the moment which are faulty as one of them is yours

As you know I did get my old console (which is out of warranty anyway) working by removing the case completely from the console however as soon as the console was put back together the red ring came back, therefore I think in all honesty the majority of 360s will fail at some point with the same issue, maybe over a period of time the board warps and this indicates the fault ??

Personally I have around 20 friends and family i know with xbox 360s and out of all them there is only one which as far as I know hasnt had a replacement as yet.... one of the guys at work is on for his 4th console and a few users on the official xbox forums are stating that there on higher......

I use to think that the faults were down to the users not caring for there consoles, however the ones I have had fail on me personally (2nd one btw - first one started locking up and having graphical glitches) have always been looked after

Sorry Mcmiller but as the warranty is direct with microsoft we don't get reports of customers ringing us as all the information regarding the warranty and who to contact is plastered all over the paperwork supplied with the console.

As such, they tend to all go back to Microsoft as their first port of call.

you must have had a bad abtch in the NW

tbh of the half a dozen lads I know with a 360 none have had any problems

@ the poll with '4 or more' - if you've had 4 or more break than you've either been very unlucky or there's a problem with your setup

I know of roughly 15 360s, only 1 has failed at some point and it was a launch unit and fixed with the X-Clamps method a couple of months ago and works just spanky now. That's not to say out of those other ~14 there won't be another failure, but it doesn't say that there will be either.

Yup, I had a similar excellent experience so M/soft get a big thumbs up from me. Of course the consoles shouldn't be failing in the first place but the fact that they're being picked up and repaired for free (from my limited experience) is a good thing.

2 failures for me personally - 3 mates of mine (not all from immediate area) have also had at least 1 failure, and 1 mate has been extremely lucky with none.

My bro's xbox died about a month ago. Tried the towel fix yesterday.. sort of worked.. stopped getting the 3 red lights, but when you load a game up the graphics just go all corrupt and it freezes... you can try restarting it and it either loads up ok and then freezes during a game, or you get the 3 lights again.
