As far as i can tell that monitor doesn't support HDCP - HDCP is needed for the PS3 to display an image over HDMI. Secondly and perhaps more importantly its likely that your monitor doesn't support an output that the PS3 is designed for and vice versa: PS3 only supports HD resolutions on 720p/1080i/p.Originally Posted by sardar

Clearly you didn't read my original post, and for every ones sanity at least try to write properly. Your monitor doesn't support the HDCP standard and so the PS3 will not output a signal over HDMI to it.

Hi all,
I have a benqg2420hdb 24inch monitor and i wanted to use this with a ps3. I have bought an hdmi to dvi cable, yet i cant get a picture with it?all i end with is a black screen. Any ideas people. I know the cable works as I have tried it on an acer monitor same size at my friends house.
Any ideas will be greatfully recieved.
Reset the output from the PS3 (hold down 'on' on the console till it beeps again, connect a controller, press x, wait till you see something). I have to do that every so often if I turn the ps3 on before the monitor (pretty crummy I know!).
Once you do manage to get it working do you know that the cable will only output video and not audio as well. HDMI will carry video and audio but DVI will only carry video. They are essentially the same cable just with the above differences
DVI doesn't carry sound like HDMI does btw so you need another cable for that
