    dell 2407 + 360

What is the best way to get the best picture from this screen?

I have tried a cheap VGA cable and it seems to flicker at 1920*1200 resolution, I also tryed the component connection at 1080p but it didn't like that. So, do I need to buy a 'good' VGA cable? Or am I stuck with 720p?

Yeah you should be ok with the official one. It's probably worth paying the extra money for.

Right, I'll try turning the sharpness to 30, and see how my unofficial one goes then try the official one. I never thought there would have been a diffrence. Thanks

Using the official lead on my 2407 with the sharpness set to 30 and it's an awesome picture. Never tried the component cable though, never saw a point as the VGA picture is so good.

VGA is slightly better than component. And VGA supports 1080 whereas component only supports 720p.

Mine currently connected via component as thats the only port left.

I had never bothered with the composite lead on my 2407 because I left that in the telly downstairs and used a VGA on my 2407 so I could move the xbox up and down a bit easier. After reading this thread I have just tried the composite lead and I have to say, it's no where near as good as the VGA picture imo.

Do yourself a favour and pick up a VGA lead when you can.

The 360 can do 1080p over component.

The main issue is that some HDTVs, especially older models wont accept 1080p on the component input
