So I thought I'd got it all set to go online with my PS3...
...
I got a Homeplug thang going on.
I'm getting the dreaded "IP address not found" when going through the PS3 internet connection settings.
I have my first homeplug connected via ethernet to my cable modem.
I have my second homeplug connected via ethernet to my PS3.
Now I understand no computer is hooked up here, but didn't forsee this being a problem. Or that I don't have a router.
Anyone have some ideas???
Thanks.

You need a router to get that working.
Cable modem goes to the dsl point of your router - then you attach the homeplug to switch of router and the other homeplug to your PS3.
You need the router as it will assign a address to the PS3 via the homeplugs, assigns it a dhcp address.
You can pick up a cheap router from PCWorld for like £30 - just make sure its a "dsl" one that is for cable.

No, don't get a DSL one! If you tell the clowns in PC world that, you'll come back with an ADSL one.
You want a cable router! Something like a BELKIN F5D7230UK4, or a Netgear WGR614 would do you.
Cheers,
Stephen

tek-nik-ly it should work in the scenario he's proposing
but it would beg the question "how are you online then matey, if you only have the ps3 connected to the modem?"
Re: So I thought I'd got it all set to go online with my PS3...
Oookay... cable router it is, then
In answer to the "how am I online" thing... well, I wasn't with my compooter. I figured I would never want to be online on the Mac at the same time as the PS3 so it wouldn't matter.
But it seems it does!
Should I be able to grab a wired cable router pretty easily?
