Quick question guys - does anyone know if the HD DVD drive has it's own HDMI output, or not?

This hot girl came over to myspace last night, she twittered my yahoo till I
googled all over her facebook. Ask Jeeves...
System 1: Intel i5-2500k OC STABLE @5.05ghz with a ThermaTake Frio (air power!), 8Gb 1600 (9-9-9-24) R3 Patriot G2 RAM, nVidia GTX980TI ;
System 2: HP N40L Microserver;
System 3: MSI 'Ghost Pro' laptop - 16Gb DDR4 RAM, nVidia 970M, i7-6700, 256GB PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD
System 4: Samsung TAB S 10.1
They are called HD-DVD players... Example here
Er..no.
That's a HD DVD player. This is a Xbox 360 HD DVD drive. Which is what I was asking about.
The reason I was asking is because my 42" plasma cand only do 1080i on components, but 1080p on HDMI. I think the Amazon reviews have answered me thought. Hmm. 1080i only for me then. I'm not going to buy a new Elite/Falcon model just for the HDMI outputs.

It's wrongly named on Amazon.
Regardless of format (DVD, HD-DVD, BluRay) if it is called a "drive" it is essentially for data only and has no video output. If it is a "player" then it has video output but cannot be connected to a computer.
The 360 HD-DVD addon is a drive. It is essentially a regular 5.25" PC drive in a fance case with an IDE to USB converter. There are even guides floating about telling you how to change t back into a regular PC drive for fitting internally
EDIT: In short, no it doesn't have HDMI output.

Don't forget Microsoft still have the offer of 5 HD-DVD's for people who purchase the 360 HD-DVD drive before the end of January.
Can't remember the link though... will have to try and dig it out.
Nice one, but...my TV needs HDMI for 1080p. Bugger.

You might find this of interest then:
It looks like Mad Catz is about to release a HDMI-kit for older Xbox360 consoles without HDMI port. No miracle here (those older 360s without HANA chip can't output a digital video signal), it's similar to XCM's HDMI cable for regular Xbox360s ... they convert the analog Xbox360 output to a digital signal, but the Mad Catz device comes with full 1080p support:
Product Features:
HDMI port on your HDTV or receiver but not on your Xbox 360? Problem solved with the Mad Catz HDMI Conversion Kit. Now you can finally play your 360 games the way they were meant to be experienced: in true 1080p HD. Simply plug the adapter into the A/V port on the back of your 360 and run the included HDMI cable from the adapter to your HDTV and you're ready to play. The optical audio port provides an alternative setup solution and everything you need to get full HD output from your Xbox 360 is right inside the box. Convenient, simplified HDMI connectivity makes the Mad Catz HDMI Conversion Kit the ideal choice for getting the most from what your console has to offer. Mad Catz promises innovative, quality products for all your gaming needs.

Happy to help a fellow HD-DVD fan.
I bought this so cheap from Germany. Plus all the films are like £3 now. Such a good investment. WOOOOP!!!
