Re: Upgrading the PS3 HDD
Hello mate i'm thinking of upgrading soon as well and i found these walkthrough's quite handy.
Upsize your PS3 hard drive - Tips & Tricks - - Digital Living - CNET Asia
GamersReports
Looks like you've found some good drives although i might go larger than 120gb but keeping to 5400rpm maybe.

I think 120GB should be enough, but then again I might fork out for a 250GB as u can never have enough disk space u know. :)
Re: Upgrading the PS3 HDD
Fudge it, I'll get the 250GB Samsung one, so much for paying my cc off this month, heh. :)
Re: Upgrading the PS3 HDD
Any of those drives will do. The only thing you need to make sure is that its 5400rpm and its SATA I, thats all really. Its extremely easy to change it out, took me 2 minutes.
Re: Upgrading the PS3 HDD
I ordered this Samsung 250GB SATA drive, which should be more than ample for my current needs.
Re: Upgrading the PS3 HDD
Looks like just the job. Shouldnt have any problems with that. Don't forget to back up all your existing save data, videos, music etc before sqapping the drive! :)
Re: Upgrading the PS3 HDD
Nice find, i wanted a 250g and that saves me looking :) cheers.

2 Minutes my A:censored:, it may have been 2 minutes for people who didn't have over tightened hdd screws but for me, Unlucky. B4 anyone says I have the right size screw driver, but the screws we're a total sod to remove. They just did not wanna budge with a screwdriver so I used my switchgrip pliers in the end and that loosened them enough to be screwed out, after that nightmare was over the HDD replacement was dead easy. :)
I'm not the only one to have this problem either, according to a fair few forums.
I didn't realise how small and tiny those laptop drives we're, should have guessed really considering laptop sizes n all.

The Samsung 250GB drive booted up just fine, the format was performed quickly which was nice, after format and system files I have 205GB of free space. :)
