Re: Assassins Creed (PC) leaks..
I don't quite agree - I don't think people are conciously malicious at all - they're disconnected (as we all are) from those that worked on/produced the product. To them it's just another game, nothing more.
As for immediately - that'd be nice - i've got to wait till the 28th dammit!

I think you're right about the people who just download a game illegally and accept it in the shape it's in, but there's another group who will actually maliciously post on forums and attempt to sway as many people as they can into thinking that the game is buggy, poorly programmed, the company is rubbish etc. etc. They are pissed off that their cracked game isn't 110% perfect and everything they wanted and they take it out on the companies. What's especially frustrating is that these people are often the earliest to be posting about a game (because they've had it before release) so their rants are the first thing people read when going to a forum/user review site to check out a new game.

People are more likely to post negative reviews period IMHO - it's human nature to get online and complain (legit user or not) rather than praise. I think we all have to read between the lines - and let's face it, games are a subjective thing: i've got stacks of games that i've really enjoyed but my friends completely hated. Then again, if you ever read the comments on blue's about ANY game it's always how **** it'll be and how it's so derrivative etc etc.
Of course, it's not helped by retail games being seriously knackered on occasion - i remember being really excited about playing half life 2 but it took them weeks to sort out the issues with it (sound stuttering etc) which really ruined the whole experience.
Re: Assassins Creed (PC) leaks..

I've had it on pre order but I think it's been put back to 11th April for release :surprised:
I really hope this is as good as it looks.
Re: Assassins Creed (PC) leaks..
got this on my 360 the other day, its a bit annoying to have to walk around everywhere (seemingly on the horse as well as guards are everywhere). Apart from that it seems ok, but i feel it will get a bit samey after about 6 or 7 hours.

Nooooooooooo... probably to add more copy protection to add value to the customers product? ;)
Amazon: "This item will be released on March 20, 2008"
Gamespot: "Release Date: Mar 28, 2008"
Should we just average them?

Yup, certainly did!
Me and a friend played it a lot co-op style on LAN's. I was the only one with a cd/key though so he used mine and got a no-cd for it....
After a few weeks he could hardly hit a thing! ( maybe he just sucked? ;) ) Seems to mess with the accuracy of your weapons and stuff.
Bit of a blow if it effects you un-just though!

Irritatingly in most cases though the copy protection leaves the legit punters with a worse experience than those with a wooden leg, parrot on their shoulder and pieces o'eight in their pockets. It's enough to make me... I dunno, but it's enough to make me rather angry indeed. And it's also an entirely different discussion.
Look, over there - a unicorn!

On the old champ manager games ALL CD keys came up as legit AFAIK but if the key was dodgy the game would gradually lose your team players, they would dissapear or something

Some of the driving games did similar - gradually lose performance of the cars etc. I don't know whether it every actually occurred.

Really? So far I've seen copy protection get in the way of loading the game in the first place, but beyond that I've never heard of anything else solid. Compare that to crashes, missing levels, missing NPCs etc. that are result of disinclination to acquiesce to the retailers request.

This was on play.com website but it was for a special edition so maybe thats out later.
Re: Assassins Creed (PC) leaks..
I remember when I had Red Alert 2 at uni and I played against my mate, but used the same CD-Key. It worked for 5 minutes then killed everyone!
Re: Assassins Creed (PC) leaks..
play.com = Due for release on 11/04/2008
but wiki have this statement.
Quote:
Ubisoft updated the expected PC version release date to March 28, 2008[6] for Europe, while the North American release is expected on April 8, 2008.[5]

Bioshock on launch was just... nasty with random crashed that it was suggested might have been down to the slightly (some might say) overzealous copy protection. It's fine since an initial patch, but as I didn't have a pirated copy I guess I couldn't say for certain.
Re: Assassins Creed (PC) leaks..
im actually really enjoying it now, i gave it a little more time. Some of the assassinations are really cool :). Im not doing all the investigation yet though as they are the more dull bits.
