Online play help

ok im starting to get pretty fustrated with my online play connection with my PS3 - PLEASE can someone run me through start to finish from both PS3 and HUB settings 'For Dummies' as its restricting some games i can play online like COD4 and such, it connects to my account, gives me all my wepaons, challenges and custon slots but every time i click the 'Find Game' list it comes up with the 'DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS..' message of doom - how do i manually change the settings to get rid of this once and for all?
try to dumb this down as you were speaking to a blonde with a few more brain cells, i just blow the cr@p out of people, i dont really know too much about the technical side.

edit: pc is the missus basic crappy package using vista and BT home hub if thats needed to know.

Did you have trouble connecting after installing the firmware 2.17, A few friends i know had trouble playing COD4 last night after the update, they eventually got online later but it took a while, as for your troubles, i'm not too sure (havent played cod4 on ps3), is it just COD4 your having trouble with? do you use a wired or wireless? what make is the router/hub?
They are going to be the common questions asked about your set-up and from there someone might be able to help you.

at the minute its just COD4 mate, al lthe rest plays fine but its the same problem before the update
i also noticed the NAT thing keeps changing from 2 to 3 on connection but it still wont play on either
its a wired bt home hub router. the missus is buying me rainbow six next thursday which will we a new fps online start for me but i still wanted to finish the online rankin g for COD4

yeah riccorixon said he looked at your stats....lol been playing it a while. Thats one of the reasons i didnt start with cod4 although got it on pc, but after BF2 and BF2142 with about 1000 hours clocked up between them, i cant do it ...get too drawn in.

I came across the CoD4 problem today, and a quick bit of searching on IW forums is a 68 page thread on it. Switch off your PS3; switch off your router. Leave for a few seconds. Plug router back in; turn PS3 back on and the problem went with me.

sorted this at weekend, i needed to call BT to get the router admin account and open certain ports, i told him the problem, he logged onto my PC and fixed it for me getting a few more ranks before i get RSLV 2 on thursday
